Geralt is cool. Dandelion is cooler. Yennefer is a badass. Each short story comes together to create a really cool world.

It's nicely written and I enjoyed reading the first 2 stories but I just don't enjoy reading fantasy novels in these eleberate universes.

It had good moments and slow moments. It took me a while to finish, but that may be because there isn’t an overarching story.

It’s fun, has its charm. And I would be lying if I said that being a fan of the games and loving Geralt doesn’t help further the enjoyment of the book.

Has its faults, but good.

Summary: A very well written, if somewhat generic, fantasy story about a monster hunter, called a Witcher, his allies, most notably, Yennefer of Vengerberg and Dandelion, and the adventures they get up to.

But let’s be honest, at this point everyone has heard of the Witcher right? Like people don’t really need an introduction to the series do they? I’ve been a massive fan of the Witcher since the video games, I’ve loved the Netflix series (despite some of its horrendous story decisions) and I really enjoyed reading this book. But I think the key is that you have to like the characters. The story itself doesn’t have anything so exceptional that it will draw anyone in.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s very well written. The plot is fantastic. It’s just not unique. Sure, the setting is different but the story that’s playing out here is something many of us have read before if you’re into fiction. What should keep everyone’s attention is the characters. If you don’t like them or aren’t interested in a series of books that basically follow the same 3 to 5 characters, then this book/series probably isn’t for you.

Otherwise, if you like to read a lot of fiction/fantasy I would really recommend this series. It may not be the best I’ve ever read, but I do really enjoy it and I like that every book in the series isn’t 1000 pages long.
