The first of the Witcher books, this short story collection is a great introduction to this world, its people and its lore. I'm familiar with the characters (Geralt, Yennefer, Dandilion, Nenneke and Filavandrel) already through the video games and the Netflix series, but there were some stories in here I didn't already know. Short stories is an unusual way to introduce a character and a world, but I enjoyed it - it was sort of like hearing the poet's retelling of a hero's adventures, timelines all out of order. Great way to immerse yourself in this world a little longer if you're not quite sure what to do with yourself after finishing the Netflix series.

This book is just phenomenal and reading it in my native language added another layer to it. The dialogues make me laugh so much, the pacing is perfect and I can't wait for the world to expand even more.
