I really liked the concept/premise. But I just don't care about Jennifer E. Smith's characters.
Okay, so where's my random accidental email from a super hot celebrity? Cute story that made me smile a lot, regardless of my issues with it. Even though I had a lot of problems with the characterization, it was still a light and fun read. It's one of those that just makes your heart all warm and fuzzy, which was exactly what I needed in this book.
Cute, but not great. "You've Got Mail" and "Win a Date with Ted Hamilton" vibes, but for teens.
RATING: 3.5
It was good...but not good good.
I don't know, I've read better contemporary YAs and I've read worse ones; 'This Is What Happy Looks Like' ranks about in between.
A quick, ligh-hearted summer read that might have made a better impression on me if it hadn't been read on a cold October day :P

This was not a perfect book. But I did enjoy reading it. I loved the town of Henley especially.
I feel a little terrible giving a low rating to a book that isn't even written for my demographic, but the premise of this book is exactly what I love about YA & what I hoped to be absorbed by in TIWHLL. Mistaken identity! Awkward teenage romance! Celebrity! I did really love the angle with Ellie's dad b/c I don't think I remember that being covered in any books I read as a teen. So kudos to these great, complicated characters today's writers are creating.
Another cute summer read. I found this book particularly entertaining because it was about a small town girl from Maine who falls in love with a penpal, only to discover that he's actually a famous hollywood heartthrob. Which, in the spirit of full disclosure, was pretty much all I fantasized about growing up.
...Okay, okay, maybe I still do. hahaha. But regardless, this was a fun and sweet look into fame and romance and what you're willing to sacrifice for love. I enjoyed it. Though I have one complaint. If the girl is from Maine, she would DEFINITELY have known what a whoopie pie was. Those are practically a staple of a Maine kid's childhood. Come on! haha
