3.53 AVERAGE

More like a 3.75 but I did really like this. Much better than the Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight.
The only problem I have with Jennifer E. Smith is I feel like I can skim so many of the words in her books and still get the context of the story. Also I can fly through 100 pages in no time, but it also feels like nothing happened in those hundred pages. It's weird, but this was enjoyable. Very cute and light, a perfect summertime quick fluffy read.

This book was the perfect cute contemporary read. It had a familiar concept that was executed very well. It was the kind of story that could have came off as cheesy, but the author did a good job of making the story original.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I rate it 4 out of 5 stars.

Another cute story. It reminded me a little bit of "You've Got Mail".

If you love cute love stories, this is the book for you! I practically finished it in 2 days. It is such a cute book!

This book was good, it was a romance between a TV star and a regular town girl. The problem that I had with this book is that the main characters were trying to create drama when there really didn't need to be any drama. The couple doesn't communicate with each other either. I love this author and I especially love The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight, but this book didn't really exceed by expectations.

Everyone but the protagonists annoyed me.

This book is super cute! I really liked Ellie and Graham and despite their differences (movie star and the girl next door) they are a good match. Even though the plot of the book falls on the unrealistic side of things, the relationships are very realistic. I especially liked the relationship between Ellie and her best friend.

I liked the way of writing but honestly that 3 week break thingy made zero sense and Ellie's dumb choices annoyed me....

**4.5**

I really adored this book; actually read the majority of it in one sitting. It was a quick read, rather like The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight. And it was definitely a mushy-gushy, adorable, heartwarming romance.

The only reason I'm giving it 4.5 stars is because I found that I cared much more for Graham than I did for Ellie; for whatever reason, I found the chapters from his POV more intriguing and I liked him better as a character. I would have liked to have had more balance between the two--that being said, it's a personal opinion. Like The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight, the characters are both flawed (which is interesting), so others may like Ellie more than I did.

Excellent read, and I can't wait for her next book!

Sometimes you just need a happy book, one that will pick you up off the ground and set your feet on the ground again. I read This Is What Happy Looks Like while studying for my final law school exams. You know what? No regrets. I wanted a book that would cheer me up, and give me an added jolt of courage.

Jennifer E. Smith's newest book delivered exactly that. Just like there is comfort food, there are comfort books. I began reading this book with that expectation, and I wasn't disappointed. Plus, I really love the movie You've Got Mail which this novel was compared to, so I had to give it a shot!

Reasons to read:

1. Romance in its simplest form:

The love story isn't an overly complicated one, flush with frustrations and problems. It can seem like a number of YA books include more forbidden romance, so this was a welcome change for me from what I typically read. There's something fresh about this simplicity, and I loved that Ellie and Graham were able to recognize this, too.

2. So much more than a love story:

For me, a good romance is just one part of the overall story. I think this is especially true in contemporary books, because too often it seems to me that they focus on the romance and pay very little attention to anything else. The problem with that is that there is the potential to explore so many other ideas, and I love that Jennifer is an author who acknowledges this and incorporates it into her writing. The relationship between Ellie and Graham is incredibly important (and sweet!), but there's so much more to their lives than each other that it was integral to the story that their individual lives be explored as well.

3. Quirky, fun characters:

I loved this SO much. Characters need to stand out to me- from each other, from the setting, and from OTHER characters in OTHER books. Graham and Ellie both have their own unique traits, totally uncommon but real enough for them to be believable characters. Their struggles are honest and completely plausible, but they're still unique people. That's a tricky balance to accomplish, but it's successful here.

By the time I finished reading, however, I couldn't help feeling that it was a bit anti-climatic. The hardcover is over 400 pages, but it still felt short somehow. I think that can be attributed to the ease of reading it, while not having too much actually happen.

I also think it helps to go into this book, knowing that you shouldn't expect anything extraordinary but instead more of a quick, sweet read. Because that's exactly what makes it so enjoyable!
