3.53 AVERAGE

This book was a really good light read. The story was cute and adorable and definitely made me smile at parts but it was difficult for me for relate to these characters. It also was a typical romance story even though it seemed to promise something more than just that.

"Subject: what happy looks like

Sunrise over the harbor. Ice cream on a hot day. The sound of the waves down the street. The way the dog curls up next to me on the couch. Evening strolls. Great movies. Thunderstorms. A good cheeseburger. Fridays. Saturdays. Wednesday's, even. Sticking your toes in the water. Pajama pants. Flip-flops. Swimming. Poetry. The absence of smiley faces in an email. What does it look like to you?"

Actually 3.5. Quite a cute story, but to long and not logical.

This book. My feels. Oh my gosh. I loved this book. I devoured it, I couldn't get enough of it. I had to make myself put it down so that I could go to sleep and be able to wake up to teach preschool the next day. Did I mention I loved this book? Because I did, I totally did!

Okay I'll admit it, I like cliché cute books, but this book at some points made me want to scream. Nothing felt right and everything seemed to be all over the place, especially the plot and the characters personality's.

Looooove this book! ♥

DID NOT FINISH

*faible* ABANDON

“There are different kinds of happy,” she said. “Some kinds don’t need any proof.”

This book was soo cute. I was laughing out loud at the witty and hilarious dialogue, I fell in love with Graham's and Ellie's banter, and the whole thing was just too cute. It was a good and interesting read, filled with many setbacks that make our characters grow in the character development department. And if there's someone that loves CD, it's me. Yes it was a romantic read. Yes it made me wish I got an e-mail from a guy and we would slowly fall in love. Yes it was awesome to live in MIddle-Of-Nowhere Maine for a while.

When the ending came though, I felt very unsatisfied. The main question, So what now? was avoided at all costs by Smith. Every time Ellie asked Graham, he spun it the other way around. And so we finish the book not knowing if they're ever going to see each other again in Boston or if this was just a summer fling. I really wish I knew because Graham and Ellie are lovely. I love them to bits, and together they're beautiful.

Apart from the unsatisfied ending, I really liked this book. The plot was very complete and it managed to keep me engaged in the story, it made me feel and care for everyone, the setting was easy to love and Graham. Simply Graham. Enough said.

So yeah! Fun and light romantic read, perfect for any time of the year (it's set in summer but whatever), I hope to read more from Jennifer E. Smith soon! Slowly but surely, she's becoming one of my favorite contemporary authors.
