This is literally everything I wanted it to be.

Also dude, so excellent. It's like what if Farenheit 451 was real but helloooo Libraries exist? So what would be THEIR next move in that sort of world?
Militia. Book-protecting Militia, obvs.

That was fun to read. Not my favourite thing, but funny. It made me want to read the novel more than keep reading the manga, but I think it's because I'm not much of a manga person.

Library Wars is a manga set slightly in the future as the government tries to restrict what books are available while, libraries try and stop them. As a librarian that is totally something I could, get behind. In many ways it's also much like what our government is doing in regards to the Internet ATM too which made it interesting. Took me a bit to get into it but because it's been so long since I've read manga I for some reason struggled with the HOW to read it. Once I got back into the groove it was enjoyable and I'm looking forward to reading the second volume

It has been years since I've read a manga series, but the title caught my attention. It's so cute! The art makes it feel like a fun, lighthearted story, even though the plot circumstances (government banning books and a task force devoted to intellectual freedom) is frighteningly plausible. Definitely reading the rest of the series.

I will always struggle with reading traditional manga, but I can still appreciate an amazing story and artwork. This story has both and makes me feel pretty tough being a librarian!

I'm rereading the first two in this series as a refresher, and I'm really enjoying all of the ethical issues being brought up. And I'm glad I get to see Dojo and Kasahara's relationship bloom again.

I really struggled with this one. The premise of this series is that the library has a militarized unit to protect them and books from government censorship. I love the idea of this story line. The problem I had was with the characters. The main character isn't very bright at all and that point is emphasized throughout the volume by some of the other characters. None of the characters were very well developed by the end of this volume. However, I don't like to judge a manga series by the first volume only. First volumes require a lot of setup that can take time away from character development, particularly if they have a lot of background detail, as this one does. I did really enjoy the artwork.

So basically I found out about this manga through my secret Santa on Animeplanet. At first I really liked the idea with a tall female lead and the short male lead bickering at first in a military setting then later on, we see them warm up obviously. I like my opposite attracts genre stories lemme tell ya.
However I hate the fact that it was just too over the top like I felt both ML and FL’s scenes needed to be more focused than the side characters point of view. I thought having the Tezuka character being the “ third wheeler” was just pointless like the rest side characters were pretty meh. Story as well, wasn't that great like it was all over the place and just unbearable to keep reading.
The art seemed alright like for an old skool romance manga, you wouldn’t expect much but the problem is that the story made it topsy turvy and again, unbearable to read. It’s just a shame I didn’t like this manga series because I was expecting it to be a fun read but it’s just not for me dawg…
