A Tempest of Tea

This was a really fun one.  Steeped in mystery, secrets, and scheming, Arthie works to save her tearoom from a sinister threat. Infiltrating a deadly vampire society, she searches for information to save her business, and to take down those who would seek to attack her.

This was full of witty banter and fun, and was fast paced.

For what it is, I enjoyed this a lot. It was fairly predictable but enjoyable nonetheless.

I loved Jin and Flick’s chapters but I just couldn’t make myself like Arthie. I don’t know what it is about her but I just didn’t care what happened to her. Aside from that there are a couple morally grey  characters that kept me reading to see whether they would turn out to be villains or unlikely heroes. While I did guess a few of the twists the very last one has made me so excited to read the next book!

I was really looking forward to reading this book - but I just didn't enjoy it.
The main character seemed very much "not like the other girls" and had to express that every step of the way.
A character named Jin making a reference to Butter by BTS was certainly. Something that happened. Maybe it could have been good but mostly people were either brutally innocent or so cool and unfazed that I just couldn't take it.
I still enjoyed the writing style in general and the premise was great but the characters I just couldn't warm up to.

I didn’t know what to expect going into this book, but it was far more intense than I thought it was going to be, and the final 50 pages had me on the edge of my seat.

The author blended gorgeous descriptions with incredible character development and many action-packed scenes. I do wish we were able to spend a little more time in the tearoom/bloodhouse, but the rest of the book did make up for this slight disappointment.

I think that how this book really shines is with its characters. I fell in love with Jin and Matteo and loved experiencing the interactions and growing relationships between all of the characters.

If you go into this expecting more of an atmospheric and character driven story with an interesting take on vampiric lore, you will not be disappointed.
