Ein wirklich gutes Buch, mit interessanten Charakteren, aber keine leichte Lektüre. Neben dem offensichtlichen - viele Zeitsprünge, Reflektionen, Erinnerungen eingebettet in die Haupthandlung, ist es auch ein Buch, das sehr schonungslos in seiner Beschreibung von allem Schrecklichen, was Menschen tun können ist. Es hatte definitiv Aspekte und Handlungsstränge, die mich zum Schlucken gebracht haben - und der von anderen Leser*innen angesprochene sehr laissez-faire Umgang mit Slurs, der mich wirklich überrascht hat. 

Ich würde das Buch den richtigen Leser*innen empfehlen, aber es ist kein Buch, das ich leichtherzig empfehlen würde, die Themen, die behandelt werden sind teilweise wirklich unschön, sie sind sehr direkt angesprochen, und ich würde keinen Charakter als "liebenswert" bezeichnen (ich bin nicht der Überzeugung, dass Charaktere das sein müssen, es ist also keine Kritik). Definitiv ein emotionales Buch, dass LGBT Identität und "Anders sein" in den 90er Jahren behandelt und nicht, was man in moderneren Coming-of-Age Romanen liest. Wenn ihr keine Lust mehr auf soft-washed queer teenager habt, sicher eine Option. Wenn ihr euch beim Lesen wohlfühlen wollt eher nicht.

Generell sehr schön geschrieben. Der Auto kann wirklich gut Geschichten erzählen. Leider wird ab und zu das N-Wort gedroppt, also wer (absolut verständlicherweise) keinen bock darauf hat bitte nicht das Buch lesen.

I got to the part were the protagonist was molested as a child and it got put off as if the woman who did that taught him something, so a definite no from me. Also so many other problematic aspects which is sad because this is one of the only few German young adult books about a queer protagonist which is also own-voice. I really thought this could be a new favourite, that isn't set in US and that I can relate t a bit more.

i loved the atmosphere so much. it gave exactly what i like in books like this. no real plot, just a life that got written down. it is no love story what many people would expect. it is about a young person growing up. and he does. the book just does not finish with him being grown up.

overall, reading the book was an experience and i loved it. but the unnecessary n-word drops made the book really unlikable.
