Wow!! I just finished this book today and I had the biggest grin on my face closing it up and just holding onto the idea of it for a few moments longer. This is the book we NEED. I am a collector of all the incredible books coming out lately about the fiercest women in history, but this one is unique. We see diversity in every story may be missing from some of the other anthologies like it. I look forward to sharing this book with my proud grade 6 feminist students. I know they’ll love it as much as I did.

It's a collection of stories about "Brazen" women throughout history and around the globe. I was only familiar with a handful of these women before I read this book because it features historical figures left out of the history books and from around the world. This is not a US-centered list of women which was so refreshing. And there were SO MANY interesting characters, I want to own the book so I can some day dig into the lives of a lot of these women in more detail.

While I love the idea of a non-fiction graphic novel to encourage kids to read about history, this one is in the Young Adult section for a reason. There are darker parts to a lot of these women's histories. (There's also a lot of fabulous sex-positivity!) So if you have a middle-grade reader you might want to pre-read it first to see if it might be too much for them.

But I would encourage everyone women over the age of 15 to grab this book and be INSPIRED! So made great and digestable stories women from around the world and across time. It should be required reading for any budding feminist!

Fascinating and entertaining, there are women of all ages, ethnicities, religions (or no religion), sexualities, and time periods. If you enjoy reading about women who broke the stereotypes and did what they want, this is the book for you! Highly recommended.
