I really didn't care for this. It gets 3 stars for the premise which is an intriguing idea, and for some emotive writing. Otherwise I found both the tone and the journey of the central character irritating and charmless. If it had been about an 18 year old it might have been touching, but for a 30 year old to be so self-absorbed and immature made him unsympathetic and hard to relate to.

This book made me tear up. I knew exactly how it was going to end when I started it. Because, frankly, there's only one sane choice that a person could make regarding the main issue of the book. But just the fact that it went into such meaningful territory about relationships, especially between parents and their children, is what really got me. And it made me think about my own parents, and mortality, and how people would think of me when I die. Or if the life I've lived is a fulfilling one. Man, this book really made me see things in a new light, and I'm happy I got to read it.
