A short but moving story about what matters in life. The main character was ordinary but in a good way. We follow a character who is about to die but the devil comes and offers him a deal: you will live one more day but a certain thing will disappear from the world. The main character has to find out what matters most to them and in that journey he reflects on his life and the relationships in it.
It was a beautiful book about what matters most to you. And as the mom in the book says
In order to gain something you have to loose something.

This was a cute and fun existential read. It actually made me cry when
Lettuce died, but not even when the mom died
. I had fun reading this but the internal monologue dragged a little bit at times. I feel like it could have been even more condensed

i was  skeptical going into the book because the last book i read translated from japanese didn’t resonate with me as much because of the writing but i believe in this one i actually enjoyed it, it fit the story somehow.
i liked the complex thoughts regarding death and accepting you are going to die and even though, i’m not a religious person myself, i found the devil as character and symbol perfect for this story. i honestly don’t have more thoughts about the book, it’s a story i might actually think about for a little while but it didn’t feel too heavy and was simple enough to read it one day
