Excellent popular nonfiction exploration about errors, mistakes and false beliefs

This thorough, thoughtful accessible essay explores the human experience of being wrong and making mistakes, as well as what has been written about it in the past. The author, a former journalist includes philosophy, developmental psychology and Neurology, poetry, optical illusions, mirages and magic tricks, conversion experiences, disproven prophecies and risk mitigation in medicine and aviation, as well as love and divorce. I learned a lot, and I now see this book as one of the truly valuable nonfiction books I have read. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to learn more or think more deeply about what it means to be human. The book is fully footnoted and has an index. I will look for other books by this author.

Read for class. 2.5 stars. Information was interesting but I did not like the author's writing style. She also seemed to use the shock value of women's traumatic experiences and shaming of women's expressions of sexuality as engagement devices at several different points. The chapters also seemed more disorganized and disconnected as the book progressed.

Kathryn Schulz's Being Wrong is equal parts broadly informative, structurally challenging (as to how to go through the world as a human), and highly entertaining. Everyone should read this book.
