There are some books that leave a mark on you: this was one of those books. I was so hesitant at first with Holder's behaviors, but the resolution of two lost souls finding solace in each other's waning strength and pain is beautiful and brought with it MANY tears. I ended up calling my Mom to make me smile because I was inconsolable for a bit. Worth it
It would have been nice to know this book involves four serious triggers: sexual abuse, pedophilia, suicide and kidnapping. I feel like throwing up right now.

Okay. I challenged myself and read this again, today. 10/07/17. The first time I was too shocked to review itproperly. So here I try again.
It was really hard to read this again. This time with an idea of what it's about (I'd have never read this book if I'd knew before hand what it was about) I took my time to appreciate the details. The effect after reading it wasn't different from the first time.
There's no black and white in this story and Colleen makes you appreciate the gray between them. Because it's the Gray area that we can't explain and she's absolutely amazing making you realize that is not always black and white. (Which I hate because it's complicated but I love it on the stories she writes. Believe me: every one of her stories have a gray shade in between.)
Indeed this is one of my favorites. I'm warning you, though. If you're looking for a chick-lit, sugarcoated, superficial novel then...this-is-not for you. This is an emotional ride all the way to the end.
