Each story is so unique. And the writing is exquisite! I really enjoyed every one of them. In short paragraphs, I cared about the characters and wanted to see them overcome their obstacles. But I was also very  fascinated by the science and the dystopian landscape the stories took place in.

The best review I can give of Cixin Liu's books is that he really likes to have his characters explain things in a very specific way. First, they will explain the first thing. They will explain and explain and explain and explain until they are done explaining. Then they will explain the second thing. Then the third thing. If you are reading a Cixin Liu book and are confused then wait a few pages and he will tell you exactly what you need to know. Very imaginative ideas, very repetitive execution.

Promising start, interesting topic but maybe it got lost in translation.

Absolute gem of a book. While at times predictable, the ideas that it invokes where humanity might be heading in the coming centuries are absolutely mind blowing.

I so wanted to get into Liu Cixin. I found myself bogged down in ‘The Three-Body Problem ’, and thought I might have more luck with his short story/ novella ‘The Wandering Earth’, but I had the same response. Although I think the books are so inventive and the plots are good, I can’t do with long scientific description. It just turns me cold. I always hear my inner self screaming “get on with it”. It’s not the book’s problem, and if you are into that lengthy scientific stuff, you will love it.
