Ahhhhhh! This was SO exciting. Mystery and drugs and murder and lovers scorned. Such a thrill. I loved it and definitely didn’t predict the ending. Great job, Caleb! Can’t wait to read Death Prefers Blondes!

This was one wild night! I love you, Caleb Roehrig. I will read anything you write. I'm glad I got to finally read this and on my birthday too.

tw: homophobia (use of the word f****t as a slur), racism, rape mentions, gun violence, drug use, parental abuse, bullying

this book is super gritty and uncomfortable at times but i’m glad that so many important topics weren’t glossed over. it hit home for me a lot. whilst i didn’t love it as much as i loved last seen leaving it was still amazing and i actually didn’t guess the ending. as long as caleb roehrig keeps writing books i’ll keep reading them.

I enjoyed this one a lot.  There were times when I felt like maybe Rufus and Sebastian chose a terrible time to start making out and honestly, I was rooting for
Hayden to be the baddie
, but it was quite good, nonetheless.

“Fox is seventeen, a senior-to-be at Ethan Allen, and an absolute prolapsed rectum of a human being.”

Oh man. Where do I even begin?

Right off the jump this book wants you to follow along with all of these illogical, and quite frankly, stupid decisions these characters make. Around chapter 2 and 3 I was already rolling my eyes.

That’s not even taking into account Rufus’s backstory which raises a lot of questions as well. A lot of this just isn’t believable. I had to work really hard just to keep reading it.

The love story dynamic could have been better. I’m just over the notion that you need someone to “complete” you. I also think in a YA novel geared towards kids, it’s a tired trope that feeds into their delusions and makes them believe that.

I wanted to like this book, but it just really made me roll my eyes more than anything else.

If it’s easy for you to suspend your disbelief and not think logically, then I guess I would recommend this book to you. Otherwise don’t bother.
