Really enjoyed the writing, and the first half flew by, which I loved. But there were moments that made me wonder why certain choices weren’t made sooner—like, why not just go to the police?  Even with the explanations, they didn’t fully click for me. There was also a character I wanted to root for because they seemed so strong by the end, but it was kinda disappointing how things turned out.

And when it was revealed
that Luca shot Lydia in the shoulder on purpose to spare her life, it just felt like the author wanted us to see him as the good guy—but he really wasn’t.

Overall, I think I would’ve enjoyed the story more if the twists weren’t so over the top.

Another one where I could not decide between three and four stars. I read it in a day. So if you are looking for a quick fun thriller, this one is for you. But disappointed in the ending.

After reading a couple of Kent's other novels, I decided to dive into Unmissing. Honestly, it could be that I'm currently engrossed in the thriller genre, so not a lot surprises me right now, but I truly think that this book was predictable. Couple of decent twists, but overall, the ending fell very flat and I didn't feel like Lydia had a decent ending. Yeah, she got her life, of course. But Luca was killed. No one paid for what happened to her. She gets what, 70k and is expected to just go on with her life while Merritt *potentially* ends up in jail for trying to kill her? I don't buy it.

Another reason I didn't mesh well with this book is because of the unreliable narration from both Merritt and Lydia. I get that Kent was trying to surprise the reader but it didn't really work on Merritt's side.

I'm still going to give some of her other books a try but this one disappointed me.

This was a fun, twisty read. There were a couple of parts of the story that seemed a little far fetched. Still it was a quick and entertaining read.
4/5 stars

Quick paced thriller

The alternating voices in this novel really help to build suspense and the pacing is on point to keep you engaged I. How the story unfolds.
