Loved the chemistry between these two and the twist I didn't see coming! I loved the refreshing take of starting the book off with one of them knowing they're in love with the other. JT is a favourite and I'm still upset that Mindy got her HEA but whatever.

I loved this book! Fake relationships are one of my favourite tropes and this handled it so well. When shit hit the fan I genuinely gasped and slapped a hand over my mouth! It was so easy to read and I kept flipping the pages dying to find out what happened next. Now all I have to do is ask the universe for my own JT!

Rilzy Adams has quickly become one of my favorite authors and I have loved every single book I’ve read from her. However, Will You Be Mine? fell short for me. This is the second book in the Falling Like a Johnson series which follows the Johnson siblings in their love life. Will You Be Mine? follows JT and his best friend Hallie who he’s been in love with for ages.

The first half of this book was good. The writing wasn’t amazing and the dialogue didn’t feel natural at times but the story was still enjoyable. I liked both characters and I thought JT and Hallie had good chemistry; I just would’ve liked to see it fleshed out more. This story is short, under 150 pages, so there’s not much time to establish the romance and growth. The second half goes by pretty quickly and the ending was rushed.

I was expecting more from this story. It had two of my favorite tropes, fake dating and friends to lovers, but I was left disappointed. I will still be reading the rest of the books in this series. The epilogue sets up an intriguing plot for the next installment so we’ll see where it goes.

4.5! This one didn't pull at my heart as much as The Gift did but I'm still so in awe of Rilzy's storytelling skills! I'm pretty sure Ima be a stan as I make my way through this series! So ready for Orlando's story!

TWs: teenage pregnancy, forced adoption
Rep: Antiguan American mc, Black li, black side characters, Antiguan side characters

This was a surprising read! It had a really dramatic scene and a plot twist that I was not expecting at all, though I loved both! I didn’t particularly love the “women fighting for a man” trope or the gendered insults but overall it is one of the best novellas I’ve read so far.
