I’m such a sucker for a strong, silent, and broody man, and his name is Rafe. How perfect of a name is that for this type of hero?? The way Rafe pursued Cat reminded me of a black panther stalking it’s prey. It made for an exciting pursuit.

Cat is tough as nails and isn’t exactly cooperative when it comes to that undeniable connection she feels for Rafe. She’s a cop and is used to always being in control. The best part of that, was this is why we got to see Rafe in panther mode.

This is a romantic suspense, and the suspense began right from the start. That meant the book just grabs your attention from the start and keeps you on your toes. I’m usually trying to find all the clues and guess what’s about to happen, but that twist flat out caught me off guard. I love it when an author can throw me off like that.

I really enjoyed this! I loved that instant connection while still getting a slow burn romance. The ending was satisfying while still leaving me with wanting more. Most of all, I really loved Rafe!

If I could freaking give this book more stars i would. From start to finish it sucked you in and didn’t let go even when it ended you were wanting more... I’m a big fan of Sarah curtis. Her books are a go to read without even thinking about it and I gotta say this just my be my favorite books from her!!

Cat was freaking awesome! She was a BA who couldn’t help but let her guard down around Rafe. So many moments of her acting like she wasn’t fazed but you couldn’t help but see it. And it didn’t feel childish either. It wasn’t a push and pull. I’m gonna right my feelings. Cat was transparent without being transparent. She knew she felt something but she just didn’t understand it and it felt real.

Rafe was swoon worthy in all the right ways. He was alpha without being a jerk! He didn’t force is hand just to produce how much of a man he was. Even when come things Cat did went against his nature he wasn’t high handed with her and I loved that. He was also vulnerable in moments that made you love him more

I can’t spoil anything but I got to say... you will think you know what’s going on and then bam... your wrong haha I loved the twists and turns this one took. I hate slow burns and this felt like it was at times but didn’t leave me wanting because the story was that dang good!

Did I like this book and find it readable- yes!

What bothered me was its parallel to the In Death series. Both feature a homicide cop who ‘stands for the dead’, a loner with tragedy in her past and no friends but those she knows on the job, living in a city, investigating a murder when she crosses paths with a ridiculously handsome, wealthy man with whom she has an instant connection. A guy who falls hard for her, fast. Who is dedicated to her safety, wants to make sure she eats enough, calls her affectionate names in his language and ... yeah, isn’t that enough?

Maybe it wouldn’t be so obvious if I wasn’t reading through the In Death books but it’s all there and it just made this whole book really fall flat for me. It just too strongly reminds me of fan fiction. What if Roarke were a vampire?

That turn took me by surprise and I have no idea how I didn’t catch any hints.

Another fantastic read by Sarah Curtis! One of the things I love so much about this author’s books is the instant connection between the characters. The attraction between Rafe the hotel mogul and Cat the homicide detective is intense from the very first sight. However, these two could not be any more different and there is a mystery surrounding them that causes some reluctance for Cat. But there is something about Rafe that pulls Cat towards him. As for Rafe, he knew from the very beginning who Cat was to him and he was determined to make her his. Even though Cat is strong and independent, I absolutely adored the way Rafe always wanted to take care of her.

Like the blurb mentions, there are definitely twists and turns to their story. I was fascinated with the secrets that were kept and the ultimate decision that needed to be made. Overall a great story and it may look like there is more to come!
