This was such a great read! I think it a perfect read for both YA/Teens and Adults alike. It has so much to offer and throughout the book, the read remains light, fun and really addicting! I could not put the book down and was very sad to turn the final page. Now I am keenly awaiting the next book in The School of Wayward Demons series.

The four main characters were developed so well. They are paranormal creatures, dealing with paranormal type issues, but it still truly has the feel of teens, dealing with school, parent and bully problems, which makes it easy to relate to and very real. I liked that the teens were thrown into a situation where their newly begotten group bonds and moulds into something great. They are stronger and more powerful, now that they are an entity, supporting and helping each other.

This book was great for spending time letting us get to know the characters and their backgrounds. There was loads of detail and the scenes were described in great depth. However, what pulled me in to the point of ‘not able to put down’ status was the fact that the secondary characters and the world had just as much detail as the mains, but the story wasn’t bogged down or a dense read.

The world in this was done very well and easy to relate to. I think that is great, as it will really make connecting with the book easy for younger readers. It is creates a bridge for the imagination to really jump right in and start seeing the story taking place.

The pace was excellent. There was a great balance of slower paced, detailed pages and those that are faster paced, flee from the scene pages. It made a great blend of action, fun and real detail.

Overall, I thought this was a fantastic read and I am very much looking forward to reading more of The School of Wayward Demons series and of Calish’s work!

When you have demons, shapeshifters and witches coming together, who might I mention, are also unapologetic about their sexual preference - mayhem is what you get!

This book grabbed me from the get go, even if it was a little disorienting to jump into a whole new world without any forwarning, but I found my feet quite quickly!

This book is told in four different viewpoint - Gabe and Theo are natural–or feral–witches who have never understood their powers whereas Kitty and Erin are human-demon hybrids–one of whom has been imprisoned and tortured for her powers and the other who lives with the fact that she will always disappoint her ultra demon mom who expects more of her.

But the fun starts when all four of them get together. It is a heady ride and so much fun for the reader - which is complimented by the fact that you get the views of all four of them - so basically you are not left in the dark - you don't get irritated by the pesky questions "If she is doing this, how do you think he will handle that?" and something of the sort!!

Each of them is recruited to a school for wayward demons and of course for sch four different characters - there would be friction, but even that friction was superbly handled!! Not to mention how absolutely thrilled my bookwormish and fangirl heart was with all the literary and movie references. That honestly made the characters all the more real to me!

I am so glad that I chose this book to be the one that shifted my focus from current romance streak to fantasy - do not regret it one bit! ;)
