Its the book of opposites. Its divided in 3 parts. I totally hated the first part. It seemed unimportant, pretentious and quite a stretched out section. Fortunately, it turned out to be totally worth the pain, as it indeed was important to the story. After the part 1, I finished the whole book in 1 go. It was really an exciting second part and a thrilling third and final part. The premise being set in India, did make the book special to me.

Yam Martel's beautiful writing contrasts with the survival horror experienced by his main protagonist Pi Patel.
