I enjoyed Fables, although it has been a few years since I read the series, I vaguely remember being annoyed by Jack in the series so I picked this up from the library because I wanted to get back to reading graphic novels. Found this underwhelming, could be my age, or maybe my taste has changed. I will pick up volume 2 one day, maybe it gets better. For me this did not do the trick though this did give me a few chuckles.

I would recommend this to someone who enjoys comics, Fables in particular, with an entertainment level at 3 stars (middle of the road)

Definitely doesn't have the charm of Fables, but Vol. 13 of Fables is going to make more sense after reading a couple of these volumes.

I'm at the crossover issue of the Fables series so I had to stop reading Fables and start reading the Jack series.

I might like this series a tad better than Fables only because Jack is a great character and a series devoted to him is a blast.

When we last saw Jack in the Fables series, he was out in Hollywood. This volume picks up moments after Jack loses his studio. He immediately gets abducted and sent to a place where Fables are imprisoned by a madman called the Senior Librarian. I'm intrigued about how it's going to play out.

Not as fun as the Fables series, but interesting nonetheless. It piqued my interest in some "retired" tales.

Pretty good. Interesting series. Have book two, but will wait for a bit before reading it.

I'm not sure I can truly love a book with an anti-hero like Jack but I very much like expanding the Fables universe so I'm going to keep on keeping on with this series. Also, is Revise a little Walt Disney-esque? I think so.

I can't believe I didn't realize there was a whole Fables spin-off starring Jack. Fun! And this one was signed "To Michelle, Ma Belle," by the writer, Matthew Sturges. Made of awesome.

Jack has been kicked out of Fabletown and captured by a new third sect. Will he escape? Or is it only a matter of how? This is the famous Jack, after all!

Jack is the least likeable of the Fables characters and so I question the need for a spin-off series, but I've started reading this because there's a Fables crossover volume that requires me to in order to get full enjoyment out of this universe. I was pleasantly surprised that I actually enjoyed this, though not as much as the original series. Jack is annoying as ever but there's some other interesting characters in here (Pathetic Fallacy, Sam, Mr Revise and the Page sisters) who I'm curious to know more about. Carry on.

coming into this series not having read any of the Fables books but having read a lot of fairytale compilations over the years. I found this a pretty good read--storyline is interesting, puzzling out who some of the major and minor characters really are ---ie. Sam. have two more in the series from the library to read through; then I might try the 6 Fable series preceding this before continuing on.
