It took me a while to get through this book - so jam-packed with important information. It was so worth it. I learned, I was at times shocked and I feel I have been improved. It is critical that we see from other perspectives, that we understand that history books are always biased by what is included, featured, and what is left out. This history focuses on that which is most usually left out of other American histories. Read it. I am glad that I did. We should know our country's history in total - not with a heavy edit.

It takes a while to get through just because there’s a lot of information. Something to revisit a few times just because I don’t think anyone could actually absorb everything in one read through. Definitely has a biased lean, but then again most things do, and it helps to balance out the voices of the most powerful who tend to be heard more often.

This book has a lot of viewpoints from history that I knew was missing from my education, that I was craving to learn about and understand. It was so good, and I wanted to take note of so many different topics and quotes that halfway through the book I ended up purchasing a physical copy to annotate alongside the library's copy of the audiobook that I was listening to.

This is a devastating read, but it must be done. History if always told from the point of view of the victors, but from the other side, a lot can be learned.
