An essential read for those interested in American History. Many of the concepts presented in the book should be taught in schools, but are unfortunately not. More than anything this book is a testament to true American spirit and patriotism.

WOW! First off this book is one that is so interesting to read. There was numerous points where I would be amazed by the aspects of history I was just never taught, told, or properly understood. Aspects of history that were overlooked in my educational journey were the most interesting to me. There were many points where I had to sit there and think to myself “we were never taught this in school” or “wait that person was the good guy, right?” It really opens your eyes that American history is told by our victors and that we don’t tell stories from multiple perspectives. I am SO glad I never gave up on it and finished reading it.

Outstanding in terms of ethos and focus, though admittedly tough to get through. If Zinn would have broken up the chapters into more sections to make discrete his focuses and not have radical changes in topic within a single chapter it would be a five. The audiobook makes this easier to digest.

Hold coming due. 26 hours left in book
I'd always suspected that much of my understanding of American history had come from nationalist propaganda, but I had no idea how much I needed a book like this until I read it. A few dry or confusing parts, but there are so many points in here where the normally overlooked perspective of ordinary American people totally blew my mind. It's a must read.
