I wanted to try my hand at another baseball book after my disappointment in Joe Calico and I knew this would be a very quick and easy read, so I gave it a whirl. Vintage King, here. His storytelling really is second to none. It's another out-of-nowhere-baseball-phenom story of sorts which kind of makes it amusing reading these two back to back, but ahhhh, it wouldn't be a King book without a little bit of the weird and the gross, now would it? It's an interesting tale that I think hard core King fans and baseball enthusiasts can both enjoy. I could get to the weird and the gross, but that would spoil the whole story, so you'll just have to pick it up yourself if you're curious. It left me with a much better aftertaste than the previously mentioned. So, now I'm officially ready for baseball season! Play ball!

Blockade Billy is okay. Morality is not that good.

A quick read, told as if "Mr. King" straight receded everything an old 3rd base coach told him about a 1957 baseball game.

This book is definitely one of those that I will reread from Stephen King. This actually is the category most of his books end up in XD (more indepth review soon)

I'm a big Stephen King fan, and I think you can just skip this one. There are 2 stories, one a first person "memoir" of an ex-baseball pro who tells a story about an unusual player, and one a sort of deal-with-the-devil morality play. Neither are remarkable and I'm surprised they bothered to publish them as a single book instead of in a collection of other stories. They are OK, just kind of boring.

I am a fan of King's short stories so this was a little treat. But, I feel like he has written better stories. I liked "Morality" better although it was not as well developed as it could have been.

These are spectacular stories, especially "Morality." I have always been a Stephen King fan, and these are easily among his best works. They are also s departure from the horror genre, which in many ways I find more enjoyable these days, as his writing seems more nuanced and polished. This was pure pleasure for me.

Blockade Billy: an excellent audiobook, though it would have been easier to follow if I knew more about baseball slang. However, that is a deficit on my part and does not reflect on the excellence of the story itself.

Morality: Listened to this right after finishing "The Dinner." The two complemented each other nicely.

This book combined two of my favorite loves; reading and baseball. It was a fun easy read and kept me occupied for a night or two during the summer. It was Stephen King. Enough said.

meh...good baseball story. 2nd story was ok as well. Still, a bad King book is better then most dreck out there...

Read if you are a fan of Mr. King. Otherwise, pick up 20th Century Ghosts bu Joe Hill (King's son) for some really good short stories.
