I am a (semi) baseball fan, and I got somewhat turned around with which character was who (the nicknames didn't help me much there). I thought I was sitting down for a quick speed read. it took much longer to read than I had thought (I had to re-read almost the entire thing) which is so unusual for me with Kings work. While engaging and well written I don't normally get as bogged down as I felt with this story. But all in all another lovely grisly mystery tale

I am not a huge sports person, but I don’t mind watching them from time to time, I know nothing of the lingo that is used so I’m usually 74% clueless lol but this book was pretty great, I love the interview style it was written in, I did listen to some of it on audiobook format and the narrator does an excellent job! I love the subtle horror element in this story and the characters were pretty interesting.

Blockade Billy was not my favorite Stephen King short story. But if you are looking for a quick read, you can do worse than reading this. The problem with the book is that it doesn’t have the surprise factor as many of Stephen King’s short stories do have. As a non-American, the story has too many baseball references and expressions that I couldn’t appreciate as other readers would. Riding the Bullet still remains his best short story.

This was a really, really short book. I read it in one sitting without bathroom breaks, so buy it used (not for the $14 list price).

The book was two short stories, Blockade Billy and Morality. Blockade Bill was good, not great, but King resisted the urge to offer a supernatural explanation, which was nice. Very straightforward story.

I favored Morality much more. Without giving away too much it involves a peculiar proposal with a hefty sum of money offered to a young couple and the consequences of following through with it. It was classic King. I might read it again tonight.
lighthearted fast-paced

Really great quick read. Also disturbing. But not normal Stephen King disturbing. I liked that. Maybe that's what made it more disturbing.

I decided to skip ahead & read the end of the story. I just couldn't fathom reading anymore about baseball. I am only rating this 3 stars because I could imagine the old dude telling Stephen King about the story. I don't even want to read the other story included in this book.

Not my favorite Stephen King short story collection, but still masterfully written. Unlike the title suggests there is more than one story included in this book. "Blockade Billy," the gruesome and surprising baseball story is up first, followed by "Morality" which is a chilling tale about how far people will go for money. Both were well written, but neither appealed to me. "Blockade Billy" is definitely geared for the sports fanatic, it contains a lot of heavy duty baseball writing and terminology while "Morality," focuses on money, relationships, and you guessed it... morality. A quick read with good suspenseful build up and witty dialogue.
