The last half of this was pretty good, but the first half… Fair warning, the mfc is engaged to someone else, which is in the synopsis, but she’s with him for a good portion of the book. And the MMC goes on a few dates with and kisses a side character. Then there’s a scene where the MFC and MMC are definitely emotionally cheating and doing things physically that the fiancé would rightfully be upset about, so there’s definitely an infidelity trigger warning here. I did like the last half of the book and how devoted Breaker is.

The final Cane Brothers book focuses on Breaker, the youngest of the three siblings. friends-to-lovers story involves Breaker’s best friend, Lia, whom he met in college geeking out over Scrabble challenges. These two were the cutest and while it was hard for me to believe they couldn’t have developed feelings earlier in their friendship, it was still a fun read since Meaghan Quinn knows how to make a reader laugh. The grand gestures that occurred were so adorable and Breaker’s thoughtfulness was incredibly charming. Overall, this was solid read for romance reader who likes the spice.

“I want her to know exactly how happy she makes me, how I feel like my cup is always full when I’m with her. Nothing could ever hurt me because I have her in my arms.”

Ophelia “Lia” Fairweather-Fern is the best friend since college of Breaker Cane, and she just got engaged. Feeling abandoned by her soon-to-be husband when planning the wedding with her monster-in-law, Breaker steps up to be her main-in-waiting and helping her tackle The Beave.

Breaker Cane is the youngest Cane brother, and his best friend just got engaged to a douche. Breaker steps up to help Lia plan her wedding, but along the way Breaker starts to realize that he wants Lia in another way.

Usually not a super huge fan of Friends to Lovers, but I really like this book. I think it’s the fact that neither Lia nor Breaker have been pining for each other the last 10 years, this was realizing “oh, fuck! I like my best friend”, and I really loved it.

Tropes:
  • Friends to Lovers
  • It’s Always Been You
  • Billionaire romance
  • Inspired by My Best Friend’s Wedding (1997)
