I had very high hopes for this book, and I feel like giving it 3 stars is generous. I applaud the author for completely reworking the fic they originally wrote, however I feel like it did it a disservice. I almost DNF, but I wanted to see it though and see if it got better. The last 1/3 of it did get a bit better, but the writing was just so clunky, and the characters did not feel like they were developed enough. I felt like we got snippets of them/their lives here and there but not enough where I felt I knew them. It also felt like nothing happened for most of the book. The amount of genitalia humor was jarring and it kept coming up. I haven’t seen many bad reviews on this, but I probably wouldn’t recommend it.

My main issue with this book was the writing. It felt very clunky and read like fan fiction. Also, I hated the world-building terms and character names! I had a hard time pronouncing them, and they just sounded awkward. I highly recommend reading the glossary at the start because, apart from that, almost nothing is explained. Additionally, the book relied too much on witty dialogue, and everything else was underdeveloped.
