I forgot these chapters are so long! Almost an hour?! Well, not if you listen at 1.5x speed like me 😂
I wasn’t a huge fan of the Osiric narrator, I loved the Aurienne narrator from the first line. Still, it was a great audiobook!

Initially, I didn't like this book. The premise was good but the writing style was so annoying. The Olden English was fine but the addition of modern slang felt strange and a bit immature. This was in addition to the author trying too hard to be funny. There was also too much new terminology at the start and it should have been introduced slowly. Furthermore, I found it difficult to connect with the characters and didn't care about anything.
This changed at around the 60% mark. The amount of boring science reduced and I started to get used to the writing and the characters. An interesting plot point was also introduced, and that piqued my interest. The book still wasn't amazing, but things actually started to happen. I guess I thought the set up could have been better.
The main characters grew on me, but knowing that this was once a Harry Potter fan-fiction changed things a bit. I kept comparing everything to Harry Potter! The book became its own after 60% though, and I preferred that. On the other hand, I did think that the pacing was an issue. The start was too slow and the end was too fast. It literally ended so abruptly that I thought the audiobook had missing files! I had to check the book to make sure I didn't miss anything.
On a side note, listening to the audiobook definitely helped with my enjoyment of the book. Reading it was too annoying with the strange language, but the narrators were great and brought everything to life. I am genuinely looking forward to seeing where the story goes, and I think the next book has the potential to be amazing!
