This was definitely my favourite book in the series so far! This was a great balance of romance and heart, and kept those harder hitting topics. There is so much that happens in here and it was so well done.

I love a reformed playboy MMC, and Dean is great, the exhibitionist playboy who spends his time partying and drinking, becoming infatuated with Allie after a one night stand. I love a MMC who doesn’t think he deserves love, so getting to se Dean be the first person Allie called was so great.

This really didn’t shy away from the harder topics, Allie with her dad’s MS and her Mum dying when she was young, and how all of this had impacted her and shaped who she became and the future she was planning. In contrast Dean didn’t have much hardship in his past, a messy break up which he is still being blamed for, but the Life of Dean was easy, but seeing his grief and how he dealt with it and the mistakes that he made were so impactful.

I will say this is the one time I think the third act break up kind of works (I still didn’t love it because I hate a third act break up) after everything that happened and everything that was going on, they weren’t right for each other at that point, they needed to take time for themselves and figure out what it was that they wanted to do.

I didn't think I'd like Dean. He seemed spoiled and superficial. And I got used to seeing Allie with Sean, so I didn't know how I'd take her moving on with Dean. However, this book surprised me. Dean grew an actual personality, something that scratched a little deeper. His chemistry with Allie was great and I loved how comfortable they were with each other. I liked that he maintained his carefree sexual way of being even while being committed to Allie.

The scene with Dean in the bathtub with Winston when Logan popped in unexpectedly simply *killed* me. I cackled for a solid minute and had to put the book down to wipe tears. I don't think I've laughed that hard at anything in ages. Major props to Kennedy for that bit of comedy gold. I kept snickering at any mention of it.

I found it a bit weird that his high school coach from Connecticut suddenly joined his university team in Massachusetts. It seemed random, for drama.

Still, it was great fun. I'm really liking this series.
