1.5 stars. By far my least favourite of the series.
First of all, if you take away the sex scenes and all the thoughts and talk about sex, you probably have around 10% left.
Secondly, if I wanted to read a sex fantasy about Ryan Gosling, I'd read fanfiction.
And third, there's no real struggle in this. Sure, Dean has to deal with something right at the end, but he just apologises, and all is well. But Allie's struggle is non-existent, and she's generally judgmental. Somehow everything just came too easy for both of them. Yes, it's horrible to lose someone, but the struggle just didn't seem like a real struggle. And it came much too late.
It annoyed the crap out of me that Dean wouldn't take no for an answer to begin with. I liked him in the second half of the book, because HE grew as a person. I never felt as if Allie did. She behaved like a 15-year-old in many ways, and Dean was the one who had to prove himself to her, and never the other way around. Come to think of it, it was the same for Logan and Grace.
I thought about DNF'ing this quite a few times, but I didn't, because I kept hoping it would get better. I generally like the banter in this series, and that's why I gave it an extra 0.5 stars.
But seriously, this is basically just smut. I don't mind a few sex scenes, but this was too much.
