this book had me *giggling*. it was a sweet story, good latinx representation and well written characters. the sex scenes are explicit, just warning. but I liked them. I will be reading the next one!!

Content Warnings: Sexual scenes, panic attacks, and stalking. Mention of: Home invasion, racism, parental abandonment, and toxic relationships.

This was a fun read, we get a somewhat slow-burn romance between two co-stars as well as getting to read some of the actual scenes their characters go through. I love when any book, involving actors, gives us bits of the script to read through instead of just mentioning the show/movie they're working on without giving us details.

I have to say though...I needed more groveling. Things were said that were harsh, hurtful, and just plain mean. I feel like the resolution just happened much too quickly. I would have liked to see a bit longer separation before the open heart that leads to total forgiveness and the HEA.

Really enjoyed getting to know these characters and I look forward to picking up the next book in the Primas of Power series to see what couple is next!

This book was a lot of fun to read. Jasmine is a fantastic MC and I was rooting for her 100%. Ashton could have used a bit more depth but was perfectly fine.
I'm definitely excited to read the sequels (only one is out so far, I think?). Big fan of Daria's writing!

I just really loved this book. It is such a fun unapologetically Latine romance. I love both of our main protagonists and I especially love Ashton as the leading man. Ashton is such an amazing character, he is such a great father, and he is just a really caring and fun person. I love both his explorations of trauma and Jasmine's explorations of self-worth and independence. I loved the casual inclusion of a wide variety of Latine identities.

I also just loved the plot outside of the romance with filming the show. I loved the telenovela, soap opera, tv show setting and back plot. It was just a very fun book. I do think at times they could be a bit emotionally immature but it wasn't anything too distracting.

I'm looking forward to more books by this author.

I read this one after it’s sequel and I loved them both so muchhhhh!!! These books are absolutely adorable and I love the characters omg
I actually think I might have liked this one even more than the sequel (which tbh I now am so tempted to reread lol) cause I just believed in the couple so much and their chemistry was unbelievable
Loved itttt

I fell in love with this book. Not only was it inclusive, but also had discussions about diaspora, consent, colorism and community. I also would really like to know who neglected to tell me that the MC was mixed and was part Filipina, because I would have picked up this book even without knowing the synopsis.
It was a little slow in the beginning, but I loved being able to create those characters before having them enter a romantic and sexual dynamic.
I loved the telenovela aspect and thought it was a good framework for building that emotional connection between the two.
The book was absolutely addicting to read and I loved every aspect of it, I do think the ending wrapped up really quickly and I wanted more!

Here is my review of You Had Me at Hola. I really enjoyed this book it had great representation that I resonated with. As someone who is of Latinx heritage but can not speak Spanish. Also, there is a good representation for mental health I can not say that I am an expert on the issues the author choose to single out but I think it was not shown in a negative light. Also as this is a romance it definitely had plenty of spicy scenes. They were all very respectful and super hot. Also, there is plenty of teasing of us I felt like where the author had to hold them apart. I loved and hated it in the best way. I defiantly recommend it for good Latinx representation but also a good romance that is healthy.

The romance book you NEED! I adored both perspectives. The discussions on PTSD and anxiety in men, especially a Latino man, was so refreshing to see as a Latino man who constantly deals with anxiety. It’s not something the Latine community discusses, and men’s mental health is overlooked a lot, I very much appreciate the way Alexis Daria wrote Ashton’s storyline. Jasmin was also brilliantly written! It was really interesting seeing Jasmin handle moving on from a toxic romantic relationship and learning to listen to herself/go after what she truly wants. Getting your life together after toxic relationships is not an easy thing to do in the slightest, so I appreciate that perspective being added in. The subtly queer rep made my heart completely full; I want an entire book about our Latino trans side character and it’s completely for selfish reasons! The selling point for all you romance readers out there, the sex scenes were mouth-wateringly good!! Personally would have liked them slightly more if they were queer/between trans people, but I can’t fault the author for being cis *laughs in trans*. Considering this was sex between two cishet people, it was still done VERY well!
