More of a 2.5. Started off superb then just sort of plateaud early. The tension was done by the first 30% truly

Lighthearted little read, didn’t find it as funny as some romance romcoms but it was still a fun read. The plot was kinda stressful and high pressure though so I kind of felt myself stressing for them hahaha.
The spice was a bit ‘fade to black’ for my tastes but still enough to keep me interested.

Dual POV, low level spice, 18+

Sam is grieving for her granda who recently passed away. On her way back from the funeral she stops at a pub to drink her grief away and meets Ryan. They have a one night stand. The next morning when Sam goes to work at the company she founded she finds out that Ryan is the new guy that had been hired as a software developer. Despite Ryan being a sour puss most of the time they fall in love and Sam is able to pierce his tough-guy armor. I grew to like Ryan too by the end of the book. Sam was just ok for me, I wish we got to know her a bit more, but aside from her company and her annoying ex-boyfriend, there was not much that was interesting about her.

This was an enjoyable and light read until I got to the last %20 of the book. Then, it was disjointed and felt like the author struggled with how to finish it. It made me a bit disappointed and frustrated.

Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for providing me with an ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Still hunting after those swoon-worthy romance stories, I couldn’t not give this book a try after I read the description.

I liked the idea for this book and It was super easy to read, however Ryan’s character annoyed me.

He was so focussed on Sam being his boss, paying his wages and his being her underling, that it really got under my skin. So she’s your boss, get over it! Women can be in charge. There was also the sheer amount of insecurities and ego that he had that’s made every conversation feel like a battle.

Sam was easily likeable, she was smart and witty and didn’t take crap from anyway, but she was also sweet and caring and little damaged herself.

Overall an enjoyable read, even if I did want to smack Ryan most of the time.
