in love with is series

The idea is there but the writing not so much

I decided to rate this low because while the idea for this series is quite interesting and unique, the execution isn't there yet. While reading, I just kept feeling like I was either reading too fast or i was missing pages. The plot was not well developed. While I understand the timeline to be short, there was a missed opportunity to add in detail to really set this work up to be so much more majestic and over all better. The Night World would seem to be a complex secret society just as the members should be. I'm a bit disappointed with this read but am considering continuing to see if there is any sort of development or improvement in the execution of the overarching idea of the series.

Yes, yes, yes! This is exactly what the doctor ordered to get me out of my little reading slump - a cheesy, YA, late 90s-early 2000s vampire series! It's exactly what you'd expect it to be and wholly unapologetic about it. I did wish it was a little longer and that the conflict in it was a little more flushed out and not so easy to overcome, but beggars can't e choosers.

I definitely recommend this if you need a cheesy vampire read.

Deliciously Cheesy!

Now I have to spend the rest of forever wondering why I never read this when I was younger. Because younger me would have loved it something fierce. As it was, I liked it a lot, but it never quite turned to love.

This was a light fun read. Super cliche and honestly written more like a 2015 wattpad fanfiction but I still had fun reading it. If you have it around and are in the mood for an easy cliche vampire romance go ahead and read it but dont expect quality writing. A friend lent me the first 3 books in the series and while I'm enjoying it if it weren't for the fact she lent it to me I probably wouldnt continue it. Like I wouldn't pick this up at a library because I wouldn't feel like I was missing out since there are so many better quality fantasy/vampire/romance novels out there. If it weren't for the fact I'm viewing this more as a fanfiction than a novel I'd be much more critical but you cant even put this in the same caliber as most YA novels- there's just no depth and its amateur writing in my opinion but it's still been a fun read hence why I'm giving it any stars.

I'm a little confused. The book feels like it's done, but at the same time open ended. I'm interested in finishing the series, at least at this point. I like Poppy and her relationship with Phil. I love that they ended up being descendants of witches and is why Poppy is so strong in her telepathic abilities. I'm really confused about what is going on with Ash. It's all so weird.

I originally bought this series because of the cover and the design on the sides. I wasn't in love with this book, but I did enjoy it and thought it was cute. I felt like its more for a mature teenager than for someone who is my age. So, areas did get under my skin and bother me, but I had to remember that the main characters in this book are 16/17-year-old teenagers so that makes a lot of sense. The characters in this story are not to entirely captivating for me, but at the same time it kept me interested enough in the storyline and the plot to continue on reading it and see where it took me.
