I’ve been trying to put into words about why I loved this book and I think I finally got it. This review is for those of us who read YA despite being “too old for YA”. “It’s Kind of a Cheesy Love Story” is perfect in the way I want all YA romance novels to be. As a 27 year old this brought me back to being 14/15 years old reading Sarah Dessen, overly romanticizing my life, hoping the cute boy from school or church would notice me, just like it happened in the stories I read. It hit me in the nostalgia-feels in the most glorious way. I wasn’t 27 worrying about a pandemic, filing taxes, and the plethora of other worries life brings, but was once again a teen during the best parts of being a teen. Hoping a cute person would notice you, dreaming of life being bigger and grander than what it is in that moment, bellying laughing with friends, and having a cringe job (hello I was a mascot for State Farm for one summer in high school) that brings me endless joys to tell people about now. Read this book. Make your heart happy and a lil nostalgic, it’s good for us to remember.
I brake for books like It’s Kind Of A Cheesy Love Story by Lauren Morrill. It is everything I wanted in a book and more. There is pizza and wonderfully written parents and class and obviously romance. This was the perfect book to pick up for a pick me up. Honestly, I was just so happy by the end of this book and thrilled with the outcome and developments within. Read my full review here Link goes live 3/10/20201
