It’s Kind of a Cheesy Love Story is such a cute and fun coming-of-age novel. The writing of witty and entertaining, and I loved the main character and BOTH of her friend groups. The exploration of discovering and embracing your true self was so relatable and well-executed. I totally want to go hang at Hot ‘N Crusty with the crew. Such an enjoyable read!

i went into this book thinking it was going to be super cheesy and cringy (given the title), but the author did a perfect job of capturing beck’s teenage emotions. i finished this book in a day and it was so fun to read. beck was a really relatable character and was going through similar situations that i had been in.

i LOVED tristan’s character and how he opened up to beck. i thought they were so cute together and i love a good enemies (ish?) to lovers trope. i also loved seeing julianne and beck’s friendship grow as the novel progressed. but the ending of the book was kind of anticlimactic. there was never really a big confrontation and the beck’s problems just seemed to somehow resolve on their own which was a little unsatisfying.

I read this book in one night. I started it at dinner, Panera Flatbread Pizza keeping me company (for obvious reasons) and was loathe to put the book down when I had to go be the carpool mom. I was actively annoyed that I couldn't just keep reading and had to do things like "feed the family" and "finish work" before picking the book back up and reading the rest. That's all to say that this book was exactly the right book at the right time. The world kind of sucks right now, and has been really hard for awhile, and so sometimes you just need a cheesy love story, and this one 100% lives up to it's name. That's isn't to say that everything in the characters lives are perfect, it's defintiely not, but there's something comforting about settling in with some characters who are just going through your basic high school drama- dealing with friends and goofy families and falling in love. This is, at heart, a story about relationships and how we sometimes hide who we are because we aren't sure if people will still love us if we let ourselves be 100% authentic. That's something everyone can relate to. Getting to follow along as they get into fights, make up, deal with devestating losses and fall in love is the perfect nostalgic read- it's how we all hoped High School would go, and I'm totally here for it. Add in the whole concept of the Pizza Princess and the places we call home and you have the perfect book recipe.

3.5 !!!

it was really good but the end had me a little iffy. like it was really resolved that easily? ah i didnt love that.

This story was so cute! If you’re looking for a fun, feel-good, rom-com story, this book is perfect! I was looking for a sweet story to read and I devoured it in less than a day because I just wanted to see what happened with Beck and all of her friends.
I can definitely see this becoming one of my comfort go-to reads!

What a cute story! If you’re looking for a quick, fun, adorable read, I’d highly recommend checking out It’s Kind of a Cheesy Love Story. The story follows Beck, the Bathroom Baby, as she tries to navigate her past claim to fame, high school friendships, and the addition of a new job at the very pizzeria where she was born.

I really enjoyed watching the relationships with friends and love interests change as Beck grows into herself. It all felt quite organic, though Beck manages to get in her own way from time to time (which can be a little frustrating). But we really got to see all of Beck’s relationships grow. It was nice to see how people can surprise you when you give them the chance. As for the romance – I liked it! It wasn’t too much or too fast. There was a little bit of a triangle for the briefest moment, but it was done well. This is just a really great story of learning to be true to yourself.

The only thing I didn’t love about this story was how quickly the big incident is resolved. I would have gladly read another chapter or two that expanded on it and really gave us time to feel the characters feelings a bit more.

Overall, an immensely enjoyable read. It managed to pull me out of my reading slump, and that’s no easy task!

I need a piece of pizza asap after finishing this lololol

This was exactly what the title said it would be: kind of a cheesy love story. And boy was it cute! It was a story about a girl falling for a boy, understanding that friendships grow and change, and that she is so much more than the box she’s been put into.

I was cracking up at the beginning with the story of Beck’s birth in the bathroom at Hot N Crusty, and I didn’t stop laughing until I finished the book! There were soooo many hilarious one-liners.

This was definitely more focused on friendships than romance. I loved seeing Beck’s preconceived notions about Julianne, Frank, Greg, Jason, Mac, Tamsin and Cora, Hot N Crusty, and even herself fall apart as she spent more time with them. I lived for the geek fest that Beck and the guys had whenever they talked about Apex Galaxy, their shared favorite sci fi show... I am definitely that way with Doctor Who, so I felt like part of their little gang, haha. I loved seeing Julianne open up, and I loved riding along with Beck while she learned that Julianne wasn’t the weirdo that everyone says she is.

And don’t even get me started on Tristan.... swoon!!! A brooding hottie who wears weird thrifted shirts, drives a vw van, and loves woodworking and the Beatles... WHERE DO I FIND A TRISTAN!?! Gah! I love how protective Tristan was of his friends, and I love how he was never afraid to call Beck out on her crap.

Overall this was super cute! All of the new friendships were unique and special, and they didn’t feel forced. I felt like an employee at Hot N Crusty playing the table game right along with the gang!!! And I now have a greater appreciation for hometown pizza places... and I could really use a slice of pizza right now!

huge thanks to macmillan and netgalley for the arc in exchange for this honest review! :)

This was very cute and fluffy. I loved the pizza place setting. And the finding yourself in your friend group part. There was a lot of good character growth.
