I never read the back of books and I should. I started this one off and said to myself “oh no another groundhogs day book”. I will admit it beat out my expectations of that I just wasn’t necessarily in love with the plot because I feel like we’ve seen it before enough. This book beat my expectations in that sense but there was nothing remarkable about it. I’d classify it as a cute palate cleanser but not a must read.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5

Picture this: you’re already having a hard morning and you need your morning coffee, so you go to your local coffee shop, only to crash into someone and have their coffee spilled all over you! UGH. It is irrelevant that the guy is absolutely gorgeous... Then this guy pulls you aside and convinces you that he is stuck in a time loop and you’ve lived this day 147 times already! WHAT? He tells you his theory and the only way to break the loop is for you to fall in love! I repeat, WHAT!? He’s gotta be crazy, right… You keep bumping into him throughout the day and you can’t help but feel that maybe there is something to what he is saying. He keeps telling you that you’re the key to all this. Do you believe him? What would you do?

This was such a unique story that takes place over the course of one absolutely chaotic day. I really loved watching Gemma run away from Jack, at times refusing to face the truth and at others really embracing it. Throughout the story, we see Gemma face a lot of her demons and acknowledge many things that she has been running from that aren’t Jack (lol).

There are few things I would change, but I do wish this had taken place over a couple more days so we could see Gemma remember more and more with each day and the growing frustration! I’m also not a total fan of instalove, but this story was still cute!

Thank you to Holly James, Penguin Group - Dutton (@duttonbooks), and NetGalley for an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I love a good time loop and I espeically love a man who falls first. That is exactly what happens here. Jack has been stuck in a timeloop for 5 months, all he can think of to get him out is to have Gemma fall in love with him. As soon as he meets her, he is happy. He knows she is the one for him and he has to convince her of that.
Jack lives the same day over and over again, he can hardly remember anything from his life before this day, but everyday it's more of the same thing, until it isn't.
Gemma isn't quite happy with her life and knows things have to change. After her boyfriend dumped her when he didn't need her anymore, she is leery about love. When she meets Jack, it is like she has known him all her life. Jack feels like coming home. How can it feel this way after only meeting him today?
Jack tells Gemma about the time loop and thinks they both have to do the hard things to make them happy so that they can get out. He sees that Gemma is struggling in life too so what could be the harm in trying?
I really loved how dedicated Jack was to not only being there for Gemma but to help her along the way. This was a really cute story with very little angst, but still hit my heart.
Thanks to Penguin, Holly James and Netgalley for an early copy.

a very adorable read, but i would have preferred if we had actually seen the time-loop as opposed to just being told about it. the story being in the pov of somebody who is not aware they’re in a time-loop was a nice change, but it would’ve been fun seeing jack’s perspective before the (final) day in question was introduced. still, it was enjoyable :-)

This book was absolutely adorable. A lovely take on the time-loop/Groundhog Day story. I so enjoyed Jack and Gemma's dynamic and was rooting for them to make it the whole time. They sure do fit a lot into their one day, but I wasn't exactly clamoring for this story to be realistic. If you can suspend your disbelief and just soak up all the charm, there is lots to enjoy in this light, sweet story.

Thank you Dutton and NetGalley for my copy!
