Gemma’s world is flipped upside down after she runs into a handsome stranger outside a coffee shop but is he a stranger? He looks oddly familiar….

While this book is described as a time loop, the majority of the story takes place in a single day which was a really fun twist on the trope and eliminated the repetitiveness that often comes with stories like this. I’m not usually the biggest fan of insta-love but Gemma wasn’t the hopeless romantic type which made this feel a lot more realistic.

I love love love Jack! He’s so sweet, supportive, and understanding. Total golden retriever energy! Lila was also extremely understanding and accommodating considering this all takes place on her birthday.

This book made giggle out loud and cry real tears which speaks a lot about Holly’s writing. I love when an author can make me feel all the feels. If I had to put my finger on why this didn’t give me the 5-star feels, I’d say some of the scenes felt more detailed and drawn out than they needed to be. I also think the final scene could’ve gone a bit differently but that’s just personal preference.

Overall, this was a great read! I do recommend reading this book and will definitely be checking out Holly’s other books.

Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Group Dutton for granting me access to read this book pre-release in exchange for an honest review!

”It’s not fair…[f]or you to look at me like that. Like you’ve had a hundred-and-whatever days when I’ve only had one.”

The ending is a bit too sweet but I like the fact that the story continues past the climatic kiss, which is where a lot of rom-coms would have ended. I do wish the situation with the father had been resolved in a less privileged/pulling strings way but I like that Gemma acknowledges that that’s the only way he knows how to do things and he’s trying. I think it would have been more realistic (even though I know a time loop story isn’t the place to necessarily be looking for realism) if the story had taken place over a few days, with Gemma remembering a bit more each day as their relationship progresses — falling in love in one day is a bit much. But Jack seems wonderful and sweet and caring and I wanted him to be successful almost from the moment we meet him.

I mean it took different directions than I was expecting, so that's cool. But the ending was extremely underwhelming.

This one was kinda cool, but confusing af if you go in completely blind. I think I even stopped partially through and read the blurb because I was like “what is happening” since it kinda starts in a slow unfolding session.

Gemma is in a time loop, although she doesn’t quite know it but she’s starting to come to and feel a bunch of deja-vu moments. Cue Jack, who is the only one aware that they’re in a time loop and has repeated the same day with Gemma hundreds of times. He finds that as he changes up how he interacts with her, she’s starting to come out of the fog a bit more and their day is finally changing.

Gemma is a radio producer who has a lot of baggage (from a failed relationship with someone who truly used her, to a failed relationship with her own father that she’s too stubborn to fix). Then there’s Jack, and all he needs to do is get Gemma to fall in love with him in a day and it might be what saves them.

Don’t get me wrong, this was a cute premise. But to me, it was just too much of a slow burn and it made it feel like it was just dragging on. Repeatedly.

A huge thank you to @NetGalley and Dutton Publishing for the eARC in return for an honest review.

With a twist on a Groundhog-Day-theme, this quirky rom-com quickly grabs your attention and has you asking could you fall in love in one day? Gemma is at a crossroads in her life, both personally and professionally. Little does she know that so is Jack. When they literally crash into each other in a coffee shop, déjà vu sets in and what happens is a path to finding out what is missing in their lives, and could it be each other? …but is this the first time they crash into each other or have they done this before?....and how do they get out of it? With relatable, heartfelt characters, this story keeps you guessing, has you laughing out loud, and has you rooting for love! Thanks so much to Holly James, the publisher, and NetGalley for the opportunity to review this e-ARC!

I hate time loops but this one wasn’t bad
