I don't know how I feel about Fraction's interpretation of Kate Bishop. Like her relationship to Barton strikes me as odd, and she went from a confident leader, to a kind of fumbling child. Maybe this is to demonstrate how her peers viewed her, compared to how adults view her, but its not for me.

This is a great volume in the series. It includes the issues of the comic following Kate Bishop as she heads out to LA to fend for herself. Life is anything but easy as she faces the wrath of Madame Mask. This story line is a great mix of adventure and everyday craziness.

There is a lot to like here as we follow Kate Bishop after she ditches Clint and heads off to LA. Trouble ensues, there's some PI mischief, a host of amusing characters and some lovely imagery. Kate's such a wonderful contrast to Clint, constantly upbeat and sparky, idealistic and so damn young. It's a great set up and really gives her character some space to develop.

Fraction really keeps this series strong and if you've not picked up the irreverent and funny series that's not too super then you're missing out.

I love Kate Bishop with all my heart. She’s the best nosy, broke bitch. I really loved her taking some time to figure herself out and try to help people on her own. This was an interesting storyline that brought back a villain from old school marvel. Loved it.

Every time I do a reread of this series I stutter when I get to this volume. And for no reason. Because every time I get through it, it’s just *chef’s kiss.*

I love Fraction's Hawkeye series anyway (the art, the humor, the characters, the action)... So give me an entire volume of Kate Bishop fucking up and kicking ass, and I'm all yours forever.

Despite having a gay wizard, a gay shapeshifter, a robot, and a speedster on the team, somehow the normal human archer ended up my favorite character in the Young Avengers. So to see that Kate was getting her own storyline in Matt Fraction's why-am-i-still-surprised-this-is-so-good Hawkeye should have filled me with glee. And it was great seeing her out on her own, trying the Veronica Mars thing. Sadly, without the pathos of Clint Barton around to make her look better, a little something was lost. It was still a great read, and if it was a separate series I'd subscribe, but I am glad she is heading back to help out Hawkguy.
