So 2.5 stars. Maybe 3.

The writing style is weird. I liked the underlying story but the romance was weird.

I felt it was promising and then it got a bit weird. I can't put my finger on it but I think it was the instant love which I haven't read in an adult book so weird before.

Liked both characters. Villian is great I hated him which was the point. I doubt I would choose to read anymore books by the author, I think the style of writing is too weird.

This could be a satire making fun of the insta-love romance troupe?? That would have been fun.

She’s battered and seriously injured (thigh length cut requiring stitches, whipped back, concussion etc) driving for days. Now feverish with infected wounds and madly in love when she wakes up even before the stitches are out.
She gives the family boat loads of money, buys the ranch, sets the kid and future kids up with a trust, shopping spree on a jet complete with diamonds for the 3-year-old and cars for the guys. But hey- they’ve been together a couple days/weeks so yeah. But all day shopping, travel and designer clothes and heals are great with stitches down the length of her thigh.
FF 3 months of nothing. More than halfway through the book and we find out he has a twin brother who’s in the FBI (wait what?!). Super close right- he doesn’t know you met a woman months ago and proposed and she doesn’t know you’re even a twin?!
A murder book, a fiancé with enough $ for a 4ct diamond and a brother in the FBI and millions of your own isn’t enough to take out the ex. I mean the dog bit him and he held his bloody arm to her- there was evidence.
Could have been a good story.

I love Jenna. I've read the story line a lot but this one was kind of different and I liked it. Jenna was a very strong character and even though she got knocked down she came back stronger each time. What she did in the boardroom was kick ass and I loved it. But I have to admit the romance in it was a little too fast.

"He had her in his site". Should be sight. I have a very difficult time with grammatical errors in my reading. Especially in ebook versions that have been out for awhile. Seems it would be an easy to fix error. Just really bothered me. That being said, I rather enjoyed the plot & outcome. However, I agree with the other reviews that mention it was a bit far fetched she would bestow such gifts so early and that after 4 months, never heard of the other brother, especially since it's a close family & the sister is also a big part of the story

First Impressions
I have dearly loved this author and she is one of my top favorites when it comes to contemporary westerns. She mixes a combination of heart and sexy into her stories and they always work for me and I have been wanting to get to her backlisted books, and this one is part of one of her first series. I think I have had Saved by the Rancher on my wishlist for years, almost a decade now. I picked this one up on a whim, as I saw it available in audio on my libby app and I am so happy I grabbed this one. I was instantly hooked and I was able to listen to this one in less than a day. That is not my norm for audiobooks unless I am really into it. Jennifer Ryan worked her magic here and there is such a beautiful blend of endearing characters and heart in the romance. The familial connections were great and the heroine is a badass when its needed. The hero is a protector and will do anything for his girl and the plot was on point! You definitely won’t go wrong if you enjoy reading contemporary westerns with a mix of suspense in the blend.

Summary

In her latest run-in with her ex, his beating was one of the worst ones. Her Lawyer and friend Ben, find her sanctuary with Jack Turner and his family. Jack first sees Jenna at the local restaurant and immediately knows that she is in trouble and in need of help, not realizing she is the woman their mutual friend Ben, requested he give a home to. When Jenna ends up passed out from infection, Jack uses everything from his military knowledge and tends to her wounds and he is determined to protect her no matter what. With Jack’s strength and love, Jenna works her way to being healed, but with Jack and his family’s support, Jenna will fight to reclaim her freedom and life against her ex-husband but will it come at a cost to the lives of Jenna and Jack…..

What I Loved
Saved by the Rancher was such a breathtaking story and I adored every single moment. I just couldn’t put this audiobook down at all. It was such an endearing read and I just love the whole caretaking trope that is such a major element within the story. I was drawn to Jack and Jenna so fiercely. I really admired Jenna, while she has been abused and terrorized and we see the moments of the effect that can have on a person mentally, we also see such strength and playfulness in her character. Jenna hasn’t allowed her ex to break her spirit. She has such a generous spirit and can be a badass businesswoman when needed. She is smart, sassy, and sweet. Jack is a hero that is the perfect match. Jack served in the military but his days of being a medic still haunt him. He lives and breathes his quiet ranch life and hasn’t had an interest in a woman in years until he meets Jenna. She is like a breath of fresh air. The plot of the story is guaranteed to keep you on edge, I really enjoyed the way the plot developed, and seeing the way it kept me on my toes. The side characters were so endearing and I was so drawn into their lives and this story easily sweeps in and captivates your attention from the first chapter.

What I Struggled With
Nothing!

The Narration
I really had a fun time with the narration, I felt like the narrator did a superb job in captivating the various degrees of emotion and also keeping up with the level of intensity as the plot was built up.

Overall View
Saved by the Rancher is a superb read that captures the beautiful intensity that is Jennifer Ryan. It’s a romance of thrilling edges, enduring characters, and a love that will leave you breathless!

The storyline was great, but I just felt that Jack and Jenna's relationship progressed way too fast for me. That was my only problem

This is the second book I have read by Jennifer Ryan - and I must say that I enjoy her writing. First, I like that the story is actually really simple. Second, I know it's "the thing" right now to have strong heroes and heroines, the heroine saves the hero, etc. However, I like that in the books that I have read by her, it is the heroine who is saved. That is not to say the heroine is weak - she's not. In this book, Jenna suffers alot yet she remains strong. Third, I love insta-love.

I also love how everything is spelled out yet it is very daunting sometimes. I liked knowing the progression of the abuse and the steps Jenna took to get even. I also liked hearing the plan as it was being made...
