Kay is so irritating at this point I might be done with this series.

Disappointing in many ways. Perhaps some of my issues are because I'm reading the series all at once, rather than one book a year, as I would have if I was reading them at the time they came out. Maybe I would have been less likely to notice the shift in telling the story in past tense in all the other books to present tense in his book, which took me a long time to get used to. Maybe I wouldn't have noticed continuity error between books, like Rocky Marino's real first name, which changed between books.

But then again, there were continuity errors within this book too, which I won't bother getting into here. Basically, I found this book to be more of a slog to get through, with much fewer can't-put-it-down moments.

I did find it interesting how Cornwell tied previous books together - enough that I'm willing to give the next book a chance to see if she can draw me back in.

I wish the library had #10 because there seems to be a good amount of things I was missing. Overall it was a good book!

I really enjoyed this book. Yes, Marino acts out like always and gets on everyone's nerves but he also shows a gentle side. Kay gets obsessed with Benton's file but that helps solve the murders in the end. Lucy seems less annoying in this book and helps out her aunt. A new character is introduced, a prosecuting attorney named Jaime. She's sharp, ambitious and very hard to read. She keeps telling Kay to trust her but as a reader I was screaming "don't". Jaime is a tough attorney and ends up being a huge help to Kay. I don't particularly care for the ending because the bad guys get away. I really hate that! I hope they catch them in the next book [b:Blow Fly|31623|Blow Fly (Kay Scarpetta, #12)|Patricia Cornwell|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1389270705s/31623.jpg|1454733].

Good not great in my opinion. Not one of my favorite books. Again, the amount of time the main character whines about not liking death is frustrating. Then do not become a coroner.

I have read 3 Scarpetta books back to back. ( #3, 7 and 11) They get better as time passes.
