Briony sucks - I think this got worse as it went along it was 1 or 2 stars by the end
Finished walking home from work, nearly walked into a few lampposts xoxox

-1 Star: Final Pages
Appropriately haunting, McEwan gives crushing weight to a deceptively simple premise. If it were too long or too short, this one wouldn't work very well. The ending is too bleak for me to rank it higher, but it wouldn't be a cautionary tale without it. It's stunning, it just isn't among my favorites.

I have been reading my way through a bunch of Ian McEwan novels, and this one is one of the very best. I always enjoy novels with unusual narrative perspectives, and this one is quite creative. Ultimately, the novel is as much about the nature of fiction and the ways in which fiction becomes reality as anything else. A tour de force.
Re-read this book for a book group, and I stand by my original review. This is a masterpiece. I listened to the audio this time, beautifully read by one of my favorite narrators: Jill Tanner.
