This book is worth reading, again and again. Equal-parts inspirational and practical, providing real life examples of people who have earned their success paired with the tools and steps that you can use yourself to do the same. I’ve been sharing it with all of my friends, can’t recommend it enough.

It's a mindset book. Judging if it's useful or not is beyond me. But what it does, and it does effectively (the guy's blunt as hell), is instilling confidence. Think of a mentor yelling at you while you wipe off the dribble of spit, "FOLLOW YOUR PASSION" , "BE AUTHENTIC", "GIVE, GIVE,GIVE", "LIVE ON YOUR OWN TERMS", "EAT SHIT, BE PATIENT", "WORK".

If you listen to his podcasts 24/7, you'll probably get the most of it. This is the 2nd book I read from Gary V. The first one was Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook. I regret not buying Crush It! which seems like a mandatory read before this. I've gotten more practical knowledge bits from JJJRH (too long so this'll do) regarding social media marketing, demographics and what works though it's a little outdated.
Crushing It! focuses more on the mindset than anything else. Around the end, you'll get a near bullet-point advice on social media marketing but 3/4th of the book is dedicated to what goes in the head.

There is probably no one that understands social media better than Gary Vee. He is a practitioner, not just a CEO. There are several case studies in the book from entrepreneurs who were inspired by his book Crush it ten years ago. He devotes a section to each of the main social media platforms. He also points the way to the future (voice-first), which motivated me to download some Alexa skills and finally figure out how all that works. Whether you are an intrapreneur (he says they need personal brands to), entrepreneur, or just enjoy learning more about social media, you'll like this book, especially if you are already a Gary Vee fan.

Vaynerchuk reviews key points from his previous best-seller, Crush It!, in this book, building with many experiences from followers of his plan for starting up a successful brand.

His enthusiasm is infectious, and someone with even the tiniest idea will feel empowered by the steps that Vaynerchuck lays out here.

The first part of the book reviews Crush It! and intersperses the details with examples from actual businesses. The second part goes into detail on different "pillars" of social media: Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and a few new ones.

I'm a songwriter, with some songs that I think are worth selling. I got some concrete ideas from Vaynerchuk that I plan to put into place over the next few months.

Gary Vaynerchuck is not for everyone, he has a pretty in your face personality, but, you can tell that he really cares and has a passion for helping others. Being an entrepreneur is also not for everyone, so if you like working a 9 to 5 and having the rest of your time to chill out and relax, sticking with the status quo, that’s great! But, this book is probably not for you.

Listening to some of the success stories that he includes in the book is inspiring and it was pretty cool to recognize who some of them are! You can pick and choose which tips you want to listen to and implement, but I am sure there is at least one that will resonate with you and inspire you to move forward.

Quote, that stuck with me -
“This is your life and your chance of truly ruining it are slim, short of self-destructive behavior or complete lack of self-awareness, there is very, very little you can do that you can’t recover from.”
- Gary Vaynerchuck

This book discusses how to leverage social media to build a ”personal brand” and business. I think for those that are trying to leverage personal media for business purposes, I think that there are a lot of good tips on how to use platforms such as Facebook, YouTube, Instagram and Snapchat. However, it does take a long time in the book to get to those tips. There are many short stories about how people are “crushing it”. All these stories involve people who became successful from reading his book and applied his principles. By never bringing anyone form outside his book, it felt a little disingenuous. In other words, it felt kind of like a commercial. I wish I had a dollar for how many times the authors name and the term “crushing it” showed up in the book. However, when you get to it (in the last third of the book), I think his advice on these platforms are good. In addition, I do think that some of his advice that you have to work really really hard to be successful, to not give up and ways of networking are important in any business. Overall it’s worth reading if you’re interested in using social media to support your business or earn money. This is topic is often not discussed in other business books.

Okay, check.

Being published in 2018 some of things said are dated but the stories of entrepreneurs are inspiring nevertheless
