Getting Revenge on Lauren Wood is the classic tale of getting revenge in high school. It's full of the key points to any modern high school revenge story: popularity, backstabbing, and, of course, revenge; but with its own unique twist. It's an engaging read topped off with great writing, an addictive plot, and lots of humor-there were several times I laughed out loud while reading, something that rarely happens for me.
The first thing that drew me in was the cover. I fell in love with it the moment I saw it because 1.) it fits the story perfectly on so many levels and 2.) I found it incredibly amusing and hilarious. That and the summary (loved it!) had me hooked. I wanted this book so much, and was so happy to have finally gotten it.
I loved the story Eileen Cook created. It was fast paced and never boring, exactly how I thought it would be. Other than being a tad predictable, the plot was wonderful. Helen (or Claire, as she is known by her classmates) wants to make sure Lauren gets what she deserves for what she did to her in eighth grade. When she moves back to her old town and high school, Helen decides to get her revenge; And, as she gets closer to Lauren's inner circle, she realizes she's not the only person who thinks Lauren need to be knocked off her pedestal.
Helen was a good character. I loved watching her grow and change as a person. She was smart, funny, realist, and managed to get it together after the horrible incident in eighth grade (which I admire her for).
**Edit. I forgot to mention how much I loved Helen's revenge plans. They were HILARIOUS.

This was a fun read, but there was nothing super special about it. I am glad that Helen decided to be honest at the end, but it just wasn't one of my favorite books.

In eighth grade, Helen Worthington's best friend ratted out some popular seniors and then blamed it on Helen. Helen's life immediately became a living hell. Ever since, Helen has hated Lauren Wood. And now, three years later, she's got a new body and a new nose and the tools to get revenge on Lauren Wood.
Fast read, sometimes the teenagesrs sound a little... off. But overall a good read.

What if someone is determined to make your life like hell--but only because you made her life hell first?

Lauren Wood faces the ultimate shock of her life when her bestfriend comes back--as someone else--and makes her feel miserable. This is a story of a friendship gone horribly wrong. Teen angst is so here. It dragged on a bit though...

This book sounds like it will be silly but it ends up being very captivating and introspective and I thought a lot about identity afterwards.

I much prefer books that have horrible things at the beginning than at the end. Throughout many books, I wait for the common plot traps that will result in uncomfortable situations in the middle and end of books, normally ruining it for me. Somehow this book managed to avoid most of that, even though the topic is revenge, which just begs for plot traps. Well done.

I don't know if Eileen Cook will appreciate my #MichiganMadmen, or #HometownHorror tags, so I'll start slowly with #HometownAuthors.
Revenge is a tricky thing
No, this is not on my normal blood splattered bookshelf, but I saw it, wanted it, read it - and I'm happy I did, it was fun! 'The Count of Monte Cristo meets Mean Girls'
I added a couple more of her titles to my TBR - check her out :)

I had expectations for this book that were not met at all. The cover, for example. I thought Lauren was going to die...that wasn't the case. But let's go back...3 years back. Lauren and Helen were best friends since birth, but Lauren always came first. When Lauren and Helen go to the high school orientation, they discover the senior prank going on...and Lauren turns in the seniors, and to make sure she gets popular in high school, blames it on Helen. Helen gets bullied constantly, and becomes the "Snitch Bitch." Helen moves out of the town just to save face and moves to New York. Helen then moves back to her old town, and Lauren, during her senior year and becomes Claire Dantes. She is out to get Lauren and ruin Lauren, starting with Lauren's quarterback boyfriend, Justin. Some of the things Claire does to Lauren are hilarious and made me laugh, like something she did with Lauren's mascara. The messages of this book were not to dwell on the past and revenge is never the answer and I found this book extremely enjoyable. I would go get it...now.
