I love Toni, it was great to have her feature prominently in this one.

I'm probably completely biased at this point since I just truly love the series. Seeing Toni again (in such a creative fashion) is a great way to bring back the character and strategically sets Tony up the final issues. Plus Poyo and a hilarious drug-induced attack on a pillow factory!

I really enjoyed this one! I liked that Toni was back because I really like her. I enjoyed the story, but not when it got to the psychedelic drug hallucinations, I thought that was stupid.

Don't get me wrong, I still really like Chew. The 8th volume, though, has things getting really weird, and it takes a lot of odd (but fun) diversions on its way to getting to a destination that is, thankfully, finally worth it.

Consider this one more of a worldbuilding exercise than a significant plot expansion until the final few issues, but when this one is on, it's absolutely on. Still one of the better continuing comics going right now.

A clairvoyant character constantly reminding the reader that everything will work out has really blunted the edge of this mystery.

If you're not reading Chew, go back to [b:Chew, Vol. 1: Taster's Choice|6839093|Chew, Vol. 1 Taster's Choice|John Layman|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1347582776s/6839093.jpg|7050578] and pick it up. This is one if my favorite comics, and you will not regret it.

Man, I love Toni Chu, and I'm going to miss her so much. Not as much as Tony, but still. This volume revolved around Toni's last messages to her family, bringing them together to help one another and giving Tony the information he needs to catch the vampire-cibopath. I also suspect she had Tony give Olive the last piece if her toe so that Olive could absorb her future-knowing powers. Through Olive's mother's toe, we also got a sneak peak back into their past, which was sweet and sad.

I'm glad things are finally starting to make sense and come to a conclusion, though I can't say I fully get what's up with that alien planet. How cute are Tony and John when they are in drugged up bunny pillow-punching mode, by the way? SO cute! I'm kind of annoyed that John is still secretly helping Savoy after all Savoy has done to Tony, but I think it's pretty clear now that Savoy has his reasons, and messed up as his actions might be.

I love seeing Olive, Amelia, and Tony working together as a little family unit to solve their problems and figure out the way to stop Toni's killer. The Olive-Amelia super duo infiltrating the FDA to steal some psychedelic chogs was so awesome.

I can't wait for the next volume, though I think I've reached the point where I have to switch to single issues to stay caught up. I much prefer the trade volumes, so I'll have to decide if I'm wiling to sacrifice my preferred reading flow to the need to know what happens next ASAP.
