Another one for IB Lit, and so good! Every single story in this collection was absolutely heartbreaking, and I loved every second of it.
Beautiful. Reminded me of "Interpreter of Maladies" in the way in which Adichie wove a narrative from stories of people in their home countries and the United States.
I usually LOVE Adichie's writing, and to be fair did love quite a few of these stories, but there were too many in the collection for me to digest at once.

This collection of stories just reminded me how much I enjoy Adichie’s writing. She is a master. Every story is so rich. Characters jump off the page. I used to say that I wasn’t a big fan of short stories, but this book and The Secret Life of Church Ladies have really taught me how much a gifted author can accomplish, even in a few pages.
This was my first time reading something by Chimamanda. I have always been interested in seeing 4+ ratings for anything she has written and if this collection of short stories is any indication, rightly deserved one.
These short stories combine two vastly different worlds of Nigeria & America. There is a woman who decides the asylum in USA isn't worth it if she has to sell her son's death at the hands of government contracted killers. A married woman finding she can actually suck up to living with her westernized Nigerian husband who had lied to her when they married and was already married on paper. There are Nigerian students in diaspora where one finds the another to have overstayed his visa and needs support but was too proud to admit it. A conference of African writers where no one is willing to stand up for women rights and in fact consider the whole women right issue to be greatly exaggerated. These stories all have a longing to settle in the new world be it due to the rampant government corruption or poverty. A couple of stories also deal with the advent of missionaries in Nigeria.
Masterly crafted with strong female characters, the stories give an insight into Nigerian lives. I will most definitely be picking one of her novels now to read more from her.
