I love how this group of fairies came together to solve the problem and how Chris Colfer tries to teach young readers that they shouldn't let their negative thoughts win.

Looking forward to reading A Tale of Sorcery next.

There was too much telling, and not enough showing. (I'm making a guess for how far I went.)

Last year, yesterday, I read the first book as my first book of 2020, and this year, I read the second book as my first book of 2021.
I loved the first book. Cute, inspirational, interesting, just like the Land of Stories, up until the 6th book where Colfer decided to flush down the drain all the progress, character development, successes, with the failure of the finale. But that didn't take away how charming all the other books were. As you can probably tell I'm still seething about the disappointment. But loved the stories enough that I am willing to read this 'prequel' series.
So that being said, this was just as charming, but of course in a second hand way. The cover, dust jacket, hardcover details, map drawings in the first few pages were amazing and definitely worth purchasing the hardcover version.
There was a scene that referenced Alex and Conner, and if you haven't read the previous series, wouldn't understand the reference but I geeked out so hard when the names were mentioned. I like the fairy tale sort of world. Lucy loving geese. Brystal being nicknamed the 'Fairy Godmother'.

Minor complaints would be, the all-caps overuse especially in the end. There was a ton of bolded and italicized words but those are manageable but the overuse, of all caps, in the end was just way too much. If the dialogue tag says 'he yelled' I get that mean he was very loud, no need to all-cap-it ***spoiler-ish reference complaint don't read beyond***
r-r-read at your own r-r-risk
All I got to say is, really Colfer? Another Hans Frozen plot twist?
***Spoiler ended***

I loved how the author added good witches to the book! (Crazy but good) Not all witches are evil. Brystal is VERY annoying in this book tho. AND DUDE I CAN'T BELIEVE SEVEN WAS THE RIGHTEOUS KING :O Anyway I loved this book :))
