Wow.umm . It’s a good ass book i mean it made me cry at the end i hate billy but also im rooting him and i think daisy is a badass bitch that if i would meet in real life i would probably be in love with her. It took a while before anything Really interesting happened but when it did it HAPPENED the writer wrote the interview format so well it’s amazing. In conclusion Camila is the greatest woman alive. Men are icky. Especially in the 70s i would read it again.

I found the interview style of the book very unique and interesting, and it helped to pace the book. I enjoyed this more than traditional multiple perspectives as it made for a more cohesive story. It also allowed for moments of intrigue and humour when characters contradicted each other. The let downs of the book for me were the reveal of the Julia as the author, I felt this was unnecessary and added nothing and the lyrics included at the end. The writing and the effects of the lyrics were so vividly described that I felt including them was unnecessary and they couldn’t and didn’t live up to the descriptions. However, without the lyrics, some of the songs felt so real that I forgot I was reading fiction and made a mental note to listen to Daisy Jones & The Six’s songs!

I just want to put out there that from memory, the specific scene I believe most of the tags are referring for the sexual assault is towards the beginning of the book, where Daisy is explaining her dissociation to losing her virginity. And also all the sexual activities throughout a mass alcohol and drug consumption… but I don’t remember any big detailed or explicitly graphic scenes of sexual violence- and I would’ve appreciated seeing a comment like this when I was reading this book cause I kept waiting for it to hit and it would’ve taken a lot of the anxiety out.creativelifeofliz's review against another edition

In many ways, I'm not sure why I like this book so much. It was so intensely readable (I listened to it, which might be part of it) and I think I'll look back on the story in the future.

A very fleetwood Mac-esque band told through the medium of interviews. So beautifully written and so realistic in many ways. THE ENDING! One of the most interesting and genuinely unique fiction books I’ve read in a long time

If i could give this more than 5 stars I would. So nuanced and such good themes. The ending broke me but i liked the idea of a happy ending not being guaranteed and our decisions are what really shape the future. I’m so conflicted over whether Billy should’ve been with camilla or daisy but camilla was good for him and they loved each other but daisy and him were so passionate and they loved each other. Every character has a certain level of depth which i loved and i love daisy and billy so much.

💭 T H O U G H T S
I was definitely late showing up to the Daisy Jones & The Six party, yet better late than never, right? After reading The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo I knew I wanted to explore TJR's entire backlist. Although I am not a groupie by any means and don't have a musical bone in my body, I do have an understanding of the powerful nature of music. I don't know if there's much more I can add that hasn't already been said, but here's my review.
I tandem read the audio along with a physical copy and would suggest this to anyone who hasn't read it yet. Written in a documentary/interview style where each of the members of the band gives there take on the events of how the band came together and eventually fell apart. The format is what makes this story work for me. The full cast audio offers another layer of depth, where each of the voices is distinct and makes each character come to life. These factors are what made the band feel so real, as opposed to the fictional one that it is. I got to witness the high and the lows firsthand. The writing is gritty and raw. TJR does a fantastic job writing unlikeable characters and capturing the essence of misinterpretation.
I also loved the inclusion of the entire album of lyrics being included at the end of the book. I cannot begin to imagine how much extra work and research that took to get everything just right. Again, this is an ode to music and the power it has.
Daisy Jones & The Six is a tribute to an era - the sex, the drugs, and the rock 'n' roll - all brought the music world to life. There's just something so unique about TJR's writing style, each book is so different, yet so good and entertaining. I am definitely interested in watching the mini-series. And I look forward to continuing to make my way through her backlist as I await news of something new.
