For me, this was fine, but it was boring and really not much happened - which is okay, but I didn't feel enough connection to the characters to care about it being more character-focused. I'm interested in the author's writing as I think their approach to narrating books and creating fictions is more unique than I've seen, as in Evelyn Hugo, but, maybe it's because I was on the audiobook for this, it just felt extremely scattered and not cohesive. I found myself just wanting to get to the end, I knew it wouldn't really end well, but the whole book was an anti-climax that never felt it was even close to a climax in the first place.

I really enjoyed this. It did take a while for me to get into, I don't think it was as easy for me to get into as TJR's other work. The narrative style was very unique and I enjoyed that change, particularly the element of very biased and unreliable narrators.
I felt that the female voices in this were given a platform. Three completely different women finding their place in the world and happiness, that so clearly not being the same for each of them and all of the pain and struggles they went through to get there.
Some of the characters were not very likeable and their attitudes really played into the dynamic of the band, I appreciated this aspect because I feel like this was much more realistic than them all being happy and friendly all the time.
While reading it, I felt like it could genuinely have been a memoir, the line between fiction and real life felt very blurred.
While I really enjoyed this, there are other TJR books that I enjoyed more.

Literally no notes, this was SO GOOD. TJR has a way of writing these historical fiction characters that feels so lifelike. I found myself so many times wishing I could just do a deep dive on this band. The audiobook was a 10/10 listening experience, the full cast made it keep so real and raw. I love the complexity in these characters too and how gray they were. This is definitely a new favorite book of mine.

liku lielas cerības uz šo, jo biju redzējusi tik daudz labu atsauksmju par šo grāmatu, bet biju ļoti vīlusies. formāts bija neveiksmīgs, jo likās, ka es labu nebeidzami garu žurnālu, un, tā kā non-stopā bija monologi, tad man galvā vispār nerādījās bilde, kā varoņi izskatās, un, manuprāt, tas, ka tu lasot grāmatu, neredzi savā galvā filmu, jau pierāda, ka grāmata ir neveiksmīga. visi varoņi man bija vienā čupā, ka ļoti bieži aizmirsu, kas vispār šobrīd runā. grāmata visu laiku par un ap narkotikām, ka mazliet jau bija par daudz. like, es sapratu, visi lieto, visiem patīk, to nevajag atkārtot 100 reizes.
grāmata ar viegli aizmirstamu sižetu un varoņiem.

First half of the book was really, really slow and took awhile to get through. I did not enjoy the format the book was written in at all. The second half was so good, but much better in audiobook format.

My first @tjenkinsreid read was #TheSevenHusbandsOfEvelynHugo — now I’ve got another on my shelf with #DaisyJonesAndTheSix 🎶🎤🎸🥁🎹

⭐️ Rating: 4.5/5 ⭐️

I really liked the style of this book in an interview format, switching perspectives between the members of the band, highlighting their story of a rise to stardom, struggles with vices, love and loneliness.
Rock and roll is a wild ride, and I feel like in so many stories of musicians in the rock and roll era, struggles with vices turn out differently. I like how @tjenkinsreid gives these characters pitfalls yet redemption, something to live for, and allows their struggles to play out throughout their story. An ultimate testament to the power of love, temptations of lust, and the true mess of life.

🏆 I can see how this book won the @bookofthemonth “Book of the Year” award! 🏆

🎥 Now on to watch the adaptation to screen on @primevideo 🎬

Somebody inject this book into my bloodstream. I friken loved it. Gonna go watch the show now. The characters were just so well written with complex thoughts and emotions and I felt for all of them. A super interesting format for a book too which worked amazingly. I wish there was more of it. Taylor Jenkins Reid hasn’t missed with any of the book I’ve read by her. In audiobook form it feel even more real with the distinct voices as if it’s really interviews. Just gorgeous.
