3.5 stars on the second round. I think I rated it 5/5 in the first read in 2013.

It's trashy, oh so trashy, and I love it. Don't expect anything spectacular, what is in this book we've seen multiple times before. And America, the protagonist, can be so infuriating at times... but I still like her, I can see my stubborn self in her. The book is full of clishés and is so predictable yet it's just the thing to grab in Feburary (really, why Feburary of all times?) I cannot write a coherent review (well, I could, but I don't think it's necessary) so I'll leave it at this: It's trashy, easy read for the moments you just want to turn your brain off. That's what I'm basing this review off.

i started this book around midnight and finished it now, at almost 3am. it was a really entertaining read and i can't wait to start the next book. the rating is only 4 stars because of the extremely eye-roll worthy love triangle.

The Selection Trilogy Readalong 2020
“Maxon lowered his lips to mine and gave me the faintest whisper of a kiss.
Something about the tentativeness of it made me feel beautiful. Without a word, I could understand how excited he was to have this moment, but then afraid at the same time. And deeper than any of that, I sensed that he adored me.”
I first read this book five years ago, and was utterly obsessed. Sadly I didn't have the opportunity to finish the whole trilogy, just the first two. I've always wanted to reread them, and finally make it to the end, and now I have the perfect excuse to do so with this readalong lolol.
I must admit that I was a teensy bit nervous when I started this though. I was a little bored in the beginning, and I started to worry that I wouldn't like this story as much as I had when I was fifteen... but I'm so happy to announce that it's just as amazing as I remembered. This concept is just so good, and I wish we could get more books with similar tropes. Maxon is just as heart-meltingly sweet as ever, I just can't wait to finally see him and America get the happy ending they deserve.

An easy YA, dystopian read. Hunger games meets the bachelor? Hated that It ended in what seemed like the middle of the book though.

I wanted to hate this book...I really did. I expected it to be silly, shallow and ridiculous...and it was. It absolutely was, but I couldn't stop. I tore through this stupid book because I just had to see what would happen next. I'm not proud of it, but as soon as I finished it, I started The Elite. I know I'll end up reading the whole series, and I'm a little bit embarrassed by that, but there it is.
