This book is a joy and when I read it, I stopped to cherish the words every once in a while because they felt like they came from my own mind. Other times, they were thoughts and feelings of someone who I felt could have easily been my best friend. It's a quick read but it also touches on very deep places with sparks of humor and devastating realness. I have read it once before and will probably read it again. It has moved up on my list of favorite books. :)

Re-read in 2021. The lines that I liked before still got me. However, the older man/younger woman romance was not cool this time around. Wish I had more Melissa Bank to read.

A funny and honest tale of life and love. I got through this book so quickly and just wanted to read more as soon as I had finished. It is amusing and relatable all the way through, with interesting characters and witty dialogue.

Smart chick-lit, a quick easy and enjoyable read.

I read this book for the 2024 Popsugar category of a "bildungsroman" (or a coming of age story) and this was more like a choppy coming of age set of short stories. The writing was bad and hard to get used to. Each paragraph jumped scenes and not just to the next morning, but to the next week or month and it was hard to stay on track with where this was going. The last "chapter" was annoying AF!

The only one that I even remotely liked was when she was in St. Croix, as I've been there and went to some of the same places so those were nice memories for me. I do not recommend this book unless you like choppy short stories.

Meh - it seemed to be more a bunch of short stories/novellas linked together than one continuous story. I needed more continuity.

I apparently read this book already several years before and about two lines in realized it was familiar. However, I had no recollection of the story nor how it would all end. I would say that's a fairly good summary of how I felt about the book upon reading it again. Jane feels like a familiar friend and yet it isn't quite as entertaining as it should be. There were definitely moments when I found myself laughing but overall the book was just average. At the end I can pretty much say I was underwhelmed by this book.

My favorite thing about this book is that it is written in different sections, and can really be seen as a compilation of short stories, all concerning one main character in different stages of her life and love.
